USA to UK Shipping query

Hiya

I’ve a friend that wants to get a parcel from USA to UK and was wondering if any knowledgable people had suggestions :unamused: :unamused:

I’ve tried the Fedex website and they want over $200 :open_mouth: :open_mouth: for a 13kg item :

My Mate David:
I’m looking into having some goods from Omaha, Nebraska, USA, to Nottingham, England.
1 package, 13kg, 26 x 26 x 46 cm
Interparcel.com quote 138.00 GBP ‘Economy’.
This is over 30% of the value of the goods.
Any other suggestions for a carrier please?
Speed is not important.
I know there will be Duty and VAT on top of the Purchase + Shipping costs.

Can anyone help please?

he could try avoiding import duty by having the item marked as a “gift” on the customs label
as gifts are exempt from duty as far as I know

Try the US post office. People seem to overlook the post office and go straight to fed ex,ups, dhl etc. These days the post office has all kinds of services.

The other alternative is to ring round the various Shipping Agents and try and get it slung on the back of a groupage load…We get quite a few odd pallets and boxes sent that way.

£100 for 13kg thats cheap considering its only a 2 day service, door to door

I pay in the region of £75 to TNT for a 2kg parcel from Hong Kong / China to the UK

I wanted a 10kg parcel from China 2 years ago and it cost £165 + Vat with TNT and there was no duty payable on it as it was samples

Looks like I’ll be having a word with Fedex

get it shipped thru your works works account with parcel company X
i assume they send small stuff inter depot thru a parcel co

If you undervalue the item for less than £18.00 and claim it as a gift you should
avoid the cutoms charge’s
