I’ve been offered my first trip to Spain, any advice on the best route to Barca would be greatly appreciated. Cheap and fast preferably although cheap will do I suppose

Which crossing are you using? What are you driving? What weight will you be carrying? The answers will make a difference to the route.
The only thing I would say at this point is don’t go via Luxembourg, before Brit Pete suggests it.

We have chosen the centre of town as the arrival point 1324 km 12h06
With that weight on I would go Calais - Reims - Troyes - Dijon - Lyon - Montpellier - Perpignan - Barcelona. Motorway all the way and although you will be paying, fuel consumption will be better as 95% of the time you will be in top gear just cruising along rather than up, and down the box on national roads. Cheaper on paper is not always the cheaper option given increased fuel consumption and longer journey times. If you were not so heavy I would have suggested going via the Millau viaduct as it is cheaper and a very nice drive but it is very hilly so not going to be as much fun with 24 tonne on board. I wouldn’t choose the Clermont-Ferrand option for the same reason
As I understand I probably wouldn’t be running that heavy all the time, I needed an idea of maximum potential cost really. Thanks greatly for the info

thats the route i used last week from boston to barca.
bit hilly but good engine no probs, mostly motorway and mostly free as well.
plenty routiers to stop and eat as well, and the views of the millau are fantastic
