Anyone out there know anything about UPS?
What are they like to work for?
Is the pay any good?
Is the fleet any good?
What wagons have they got in the fleet?
What are they looking for at interview?
I have a possible job with them and would like to go into the interview pre armed
UPS - Did some agency work in their place at Dewsbury. Apparently the small brown van guys get more money than the class one drivers.
I donโt know what the actual pay rate is, but one night trunker said he was (zb)off 'cos he drew less than ยฃ300 for a weeks work.
Another left to drive for the agencies.
mmmm
Here in the states, UPS is the largest parcel carrier, and they have probably the largest fleet in North America. Their equipment is basic, but extremely well maintained. As an employer, they are the kind of company that hires for the long term, preferring to train people from within rather than hire outside experience.
Now for the bad side-they usually hire people only on a โcasualโ basis for the first year or so, before they actually hire on full-time. Labour rules over there may make this practice unlawful, so Iโm not sure what they do there.
Hereโs the typical type of tractor UPS uses over here. These are usually used to pull double pup trailers, sometimes triple pups, and even turnpike doubles.
I worked for UPS via an agency on two separate occasions. This was the UPS Haulfast division at Shaw Cross, Ossett, W Yorks. DAF XF95 380โs/430โs which are well looked after.
However, the transport staff at Shaw Cross are ZEBIDEEโs and Iโm not exaggerating . The money was good on agency (ยฃ500+ take home/week on tramping) but Iโve no idea what their own drivers on that division are paid.
