Pistonheads reckon they get scrapped for the aluminium content and UPS trying to keep them out of private hands. They are built on a Mercedes chassis by a part of Fruehauf
Our local UPS vehicles are Brown LWB Mercedes Sprinters.
who was it put a diary of their day on a ups round?
i think he said they run the coachbuilt vans into the ground and if they do sell one of their ‘normal’ looking vehicles they are resprayed in another colour, something to do with company image.

just copy the address from the box at the top of your browser and paste it into the box where you are writing your post
like this viewtopic.php?f=2&t=66898
or when you get the hang of that you can shorten them like this
There’s a post in the FAQ Forum that explains how to shorten links
a company called SPEIR made them on mercedes chassis when i was at UPS donkeys years ago(carryfast days).
they refurb them a few times then bin them.
good vans to work out of.but bloody cold in winter.
As already said they are built especially for UPS and are all aluminium so aren’t cheap, they run them into the ground to get their moneys worth from them, they are also destroyed under supervision of UPS Automotive personal to ensure they don’t pass into unauthorised hands. Its all about image and what might happen if someone was to get hold of one and have a bad accident or use one for some security breach, even though it might not be owned by UPS it would still be recognised as a UPS truck.
Mines 17 years old and we’ve been told all the 94 & 95 trucks are due for replacement this year but i’ve heard that many times.

Have they electric ones in London?
They do
Not sure what they’ll do as Modec is no more but i’m something will appear, UPS run the largest alternative fuel fleet in the world
Blimey mate - that makes your motor look pretty
