Update since passing my test!

Well, it’s been a stressful time this last couple of month. Having 12 points on my license been granted a provisional was looking slim but, got granted, so started saving, then lost my job, so I had to pay for my test etc with my last pay and leave us skint and on income support looking after 2 babies!!

I already had a job offer so it was beneficial to get my class 2!

So test day, knowing it was all or nothing I was a bag of nerves, everything, and my family relied on me to pass! And well I passed!!

So I messaged the guy who is taking me on for employment as a concrete mixer driver, and boom, vosa stopped my tracks! Upgrading his O license and he has to be checked out! And god knows how long this takes, his application was upto 9 weeks already!

So, was very eager, I checked my license online, and to my amazement only 9 points, rang up a haulage company, sounded promising, but to no avail, he said looking at my license I had 12 points and that incsurance reasons couldnt take me on, even though 3 was spent but I do understand the insurance and how they view points etc, I was gutted I felt like this opportunity with a concrete driver was gone and I knew I was held back bit a real low point!

Well, till today. He rang me up (concrete mixer) and explained a position has become available! So he coming to see me Friday, get me insured and I’m to start on Tuesday all been well! I livw in doncaster and the position is in York, so an hour or more drive but once his o license is upgraded I can be moved to a local depot in doncaster  commuting to York for this opportunity I’m more than willing to do! Lovely diesel car returns 60+ mph smiles now I just can’t wait to start!!!

I’m thinking of doing a diary with pics if there is enough interest!

One question with this though, how far are you willing to travel to get the perfect opportunity? ( your ideal class 2 job not just any job)

Thanks for reading. Long winded i know. Chris

Chris-you have been extremely fortunate! Well done. Goes without saying, but you need to start driving like a saint for a few years so you can get your license cleaned up.

By that time you will have 2 years experience as well,so job opportunities should increase.
With regard to travelling to work time, I suppose it is dependant on how much you want to drive HGV’s.

And a saint I am behind the wheel, next year in June and it’s squeaky clean

Do a diary for yourself , that way you can see how far YOU have come , if you want to publish it other people will read it ( I’ve done one "my time on sugar beet " I didn’t expect anyone to read it but they did )
Best advise I can give you is do the speed limits and take your time , I will openly admit that I scared myself a couple of times because I was trying to keep up with the more experienced drivers . . . Don’t try !!
Not to start with anyway

Yes deffinatly not going over speed limits! Best advice ever! and also not to mention concrete mixers are top heavy. Just going to treat it as a motorcye in respects to, treat it with respect! It will look after me, if not it will bite me back with huge consequences! That’s one I have been told a few times!! I’m really excited to start!! £8.50 first 6 month, then after a review upto £9.50 and can achieve more the longer I stay! For class 2 work I think that’s pretty good!!

And I will do a diary, I read yours and really enjoyed it! Makes me imagine it been myself
