UPDATE FOR THE GERMAN MAUT20thnov2008

As we all read the germans wereputting the cost of the maut up
as of the 1st jan 2009, Tollcollect has published the rates on
their site the link to the page is shown

WELL worth haveing a read, and it makes sense to start thinking
about a newer better lorry that has a euro 4 or 5 motor, if you are
going to those countrys where the maut is based on how clean
your exhaust pollution is.]

HERE

CLICK ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE WHERE IT SAYS
NEW TOLL RATES

Is that a drop in the rate, of €0.001 per km, for each class ?

Or is it an increase of €0.001 for each class ?

My understanding of it is that these new rates come into effect on 1/1/2009.
Then on 1/1/2011 the rates for the least polluting vehicles will fall by 0.001 Euro/km, whilst the rates for higher polluting vehicles will rise by 0.02 Euro/km to encourage firms to replace their older vehicles with more modern, less polluting vehicles by this date.
Alles Klar

thats what they are supposed to be doing Taff
and you can bet that other countrys will copy
there lead and do the same to their road charges

Pete,

how does that tally with labours Haulage Think tank saying:-

3.8 Of all the options considered, a vignette scheme would have the potential to generate a database with the highest percentage of relevant vehicles recorded. But the project team observe that financial revenue to Government would be relatively limited, due to the restrictions imposed by the Eurovignette Directive. They estimate that (because of the need to adjust maximum levels to sit alongside UK VED rates) the average cost of a daily UK vignette would be £7.45 and the average cost of an annual UK vignette would be £671.48, with the exact charge varying depending on the type and size of vehicle. The average charge per vehicle per day will be considerably lower than the estimated £7.45 average for a daily vignette (because some hauliers will opt to purchase monthly or annual permits).

Sorry if its a dumb question just trying to get my head around fixed/maximum amounts allowed in the Euro system versus a cop-out by labour due to tax losses through our RFL scheme as it stands.

Hang on, I think I have answered it myself, UK hauliers pay less tax granted but the foreign trucks paying for the Vignette would equal the revenue into the government.

By Jove I think I’ve got it, shame Labour hasn’t!! :imp:

If the members of Goverment thought about
the way to implement, the United Kingdom
Road Charge Fee, Then it could be up and
running within 6months, All that is required is
the use of APNR cameras and the exchange
of information, from the ferry,or euro shuttle
company, The trucks are issued a ticket which
is paid up front for a week,s entrance into the UK
which allows the user to use all roads and motorways.
If when they enter the docks , they have either been
less than a week or have stayed longer, this sum would be
reimbursed or collected before they vehicle can get a ferry,
train ticket, It will perhaps in the begining cause some
delay but after some time this will be minimal

ANY CHANCE THIS MIGHT HAPPEN
not a hope in hell because no
party is intrested in preserveing
british haulage and jobs,for
those who need work to
pay their way.

Posted on the O/D page Pete, not one for conspiracy theory but this ■■■■■ item 4

Here is a link to Labours Haulage Industry Think Tank and their findings over 2 years.

dft.gov.uk/pgr/freight/road/ … rep?page=1

1, No hauliers representing the industry on the task force, the RHA and FTA don’t make me laugh

2, It took 2 blooming years to come up with ideas that most on this forum could do in 30 mins in the chatroom

3, Vosa get another £2million to enable better enforcement of International hauliers paid through Fines and fixed penalties, then Vosa needs more powers to get fines from International Operators (so basically feel free Vosa to go after UK hauliers as you will get the money from them) Bunch of Balls

4, The pay as you use Toll scheme was scrapped they led us to believe, then why is LogicaCMG the lead consultant on the haulage industry Task force, they make the satelite toll system, It stinks be prepared for a turn around and a massively expensive tolling system with the british haulage industry as the Lab Rat WATCH THIS SPACE!!!
