Unusual truck

Had to pop to the scrap yard earlier. At the entrance they had this truck parked rotting away.

Thought it may be of interest to some on here and wondering if anyone has any info on it.

Think I saw something similar on ebay a few months ago. Was a cash in transit vehicle and quite well armoured.

Looks like it was last auctioned by Malcolm Harrison auctions no idea when but judging by the condition of the photos available online from the auction site probably not too long ago maybe.

Says armoured reg XVS 333 so possibly some sort of very old armoured vehicle?

Is it a short weighbridge test unit?

Lot no 605

Albion 27A 6x2 Utility vehicle.

As above seems to have been an armoured truck for moving bullion possibly.

Back in the day…

I’ll bet the driver was all excited and eager to get his hands on his new motor.

‘It’s the mutts, I’ve looked in the brochure and it’s got windows and gears and seats and everythin’ mate’.

looks like the prozzys methodone van from easterhouse and the gorbals that they retired off in 2016…

VS was a Greenock registration.

Should be pretty solid and likely rustproof or if it did rust there’s be that much metal no one would notice.

However suspect driving with ear-defenders due to the apparent lack of engine sound cushioning would maybe get you noticed by plod or VOSA.

Surprised it not ended up getting cut up as that has to be one heck of a project even for experienced fixer-upers. Plus does anyone still sell Leyland glow plugs (unless they still for the same ones in DAFs)?

Surely you recognise an MX11 engine test bed when you see it :grimacing:

This looks to give a bit more info.

Dvla website says the tax expired in July ‘85. Also says it’s red!
