Unsolicited Emails From Agencies

I’ve had a couple of emails from agencies I’ve never heard of never mind worked for. Apparently I was a “suitable applicant” to work at Bidvest, Banbury. I’ve never applied nor do I ever want to work there so where they got my email from, God knows.
Unless Driver Hire or Trucknet* sell drivers’ details on?

*Who’ve sent me several emails trying to get me to waste money on T&D subscriptions.

I can assure you that the ones from agencies are nothing to do with us - As for the offers of discounted subscriptions for our own print titles there is a very obvious link to unsubscribe to the e-mail list in every e-mail if you don’t want them.

We do hope to offer the members here discounts on our and partners products via e-mail, but understand if you want to opt out of receiving the mails - its easy to do and explained in the mails.

I have clicked “opt out” and received at least one since. I take it Trucknet don’t forward emails to outside “interested” parties then? Just curious how some tin pot agency has got my details.

Have you selected the “no” option to deny other users the option to email you? Can email addresses be seen by other registered users?

How do you get to perform a shift, without having previously signed up with them??

You could be anyone on a recycled phone number, turn up to the appointed shift, helped yourself to stock, then walk straight out again.

When people phone you up - they don’t know where you live necessarily…

I get phone calls all the time for someone with only my house number corresponding to the person they are after, who actually lives in a different street a mile away. They’ve never lived here, but their old phone number is now mine…

No matter how many times you tell 'em their info is “wrong” - they don’t do anything to correct it at all!

I think the question you need to ask yourself is who have you given your email address too?
I have recieved text messages from an Agency saying…“Hi its Stacey here from ■■■ agency i sued to work at Topgear Recruitment, and i want to let you know we have work in Warrington etc…”
And i’ve though, wow thats pretty bad practice to let an ex employee take away a phone number database, maybe even illegal ?
And i also get texts from Haul It to let me know their latest vacancies. Only problem is, i last worked for Haul It about ten years ago, and i know that any data they hold (like my phone number) should only be held as long as is relevant (or some such fancy wording i can’t be minded to find out now), so i’m pretty sure i should not be recieving texts.

As someone on pre mod who makes a concerted effort to post, like you do. And given the fact you’ve at least had three different user names, did that entail you using three different email addresses ? If so, are you getting spam to them all ?

I personally wouldn’t recommend you to a Romainian Rag Collector looking for a driver, but i don’t have your info to pass on anyway !!

if your cv is online that is more than likely where they will get the details, i cv search and always email the drivers a, dont want to wake night guys up and b, you can delete or respond its up to you.

Agency people move around from one agency to another and often take the agencies workers list with them, in the past I’ve had phone calls from agencies I’ve never even heard of asking if I’m available for work :unamused:
