Unpaid parking ticket, bailiffs want £ 500

12 months ago I got a parking ticket for partially parking on double yellows. I appealed, mainly to delay paying the fine. Then we moved house and I forgot about it.

Fast forward to yesterday, we had a letter from he baliffs demanding immediate payment of £500!

There’s no way we can afford even a fraction of this, has anyone got any serious advice on how to deal with the baliffs?

I already know that I shouldn’t have parked there, and the fine should have been paid on time so people not wishing to give serious advice that can help now can stay away.

Thanks

Ignore it and dont reply, it is prob some private company trying it on, they will soon get bored and move on.

The original ticket was from the council though.

If I sent you a letter asking for £500 would you give it me?

I see your point, and I have no intention of paying the £500ish they’re asking for, but the original ticket wasn’t from a private company but from the council so that link isn’t really of very much use.

Prob totally different but i defaulted on a loan few years back threw loss of job etc.

They passed it over to baliffs who were using every trick in the book. Intimidating letters, seizing possessions etc etc. My dad was a financial chap for local police. His advise to me and is the same to this, BALLS to the baliffs there nothing but thugs trying there hand. Ignore them and they will pass it back to council then deal.with them.

Baliffs are nothing but hired meat heads Hahaha.

The facts -
You got the council parking ticket by parking where you should not have
You lost the appeal
You moved house and forgot about it
The council did not forget about it
The council could not find you so employed baliffs to do so and get their money
The council & baliffs add on charges as well as fees for their time etc
The fine plus charges/fees is now up to £500
That amount will increase if not paid

My advice - pay it now even if it means borrowing because the fees will increase more than any other lender

Here is another link, which may help, but then again it may be you who has posted it.

They will NOT forget about it…Get it paid!

You cant get blood out of a stone, if you cant pay it all offer payments weekly that you can afford…then you are not refuseing to pay…tell them your circumstances, try CAB they should give you advice to help you.
