The one I’ve got at the moment - Jesus - I’ve seen glaciers move faster. Always on a bloody Friday. So far 7 pallets of bricks has taken 20 mins. Only 22 to go!!

 Then he’s got to count every brick to make sure that they are all there

I’m home now, so I’ll have a beer for you.

And that’s when I go a little bit shouty! Enjoy the beer you git!

Don’'t upset him until you’ve got you notes signed & you are outside the gates.

Fair point - ill settle for looking slightly miffed and not saying “have a good weekend”. That’ll show him!!

Only annoying place I can think of is King Bros at Peterborough; Why does everyone have their breaks together? You then get a backlog of deliveries which they aren’t happy about, which wouldn’t be there if they didn’t hold hands at breaktime. Smiths at Gil Mill quarry are experts at all going for their breaks and leaving one poor sod to load all the lorries, load concrete plant and load bagging plant…
:unamused:

Makes me laugh when you open curtain to reveal 1p with the customers name and town written allover and they ask “Is this one ours”. Or they start to TRY and dig one out from the middle when you’ve got 26 on for them!!

At Bristol Fruit Market, why do they substitute “hello” or “good morning” with “hi viz”?
…Nice collection of retro vehicles in there though, Merc SKs, early Ategos and even a Ford Cargo…

Do these vehicles have the obligatory dodgy suspension that means one corner is about 6 inches lower than the other three, as well as the customary foot height door window taped over with cardboard?

Question.
Why do fork truck drivers unload 1 pallet from 1 side, then 1 pallet from the other side, then 1 pallet from the original side ‘Yawn’ etc, etc.
if they unloaded 1 side completely then I could get on with my life & close it up whilst he is unloading the other side.
Moan Over.

I have a hard time believing some of the questions I see on here  Have you really considered how much damage can be done to the chassis and suspension of a trailer when the entire side of a load is removed before the other ? add to that the unstability of a heavy load when one side is removed first. A fork lift driver who unloads evenly between sides of a load shows he has the thoughtfullness and inteligence to understand such things… either that or he was just trained that way and doen’t know the reason. Either way taking one side off a full 20 or so ton load puts unimaginable stress on the vehicle.

Also … Next time you are being unloaded and the forklift driver take one entire side off, have a look at your fith wheel and see the gap and strain on the opposite side.

come on pat, if they are that weak they wouldn’t last 5 minutes, unless we banned them from turning

unstable? we’re not talking about shooting off down the M6, we’re talking not moving or shunting to the other side of a yard probably not getting above 5mph

a bloke once told me that with only one side loaded it would fall over!! once i’d finished loading the one side (about 13t), i then moved it, over slightly uneven ground to the other side of the small yard to load the other side, all in front of him, he didn’t say much after that!!

I’ve never had a problem jinking from one side of a narrow yard to the other with 13 full IBC’s down one side and that’s with notoriously weak schmitz trailers. The only thing I’ve had to watch out for is that with pillarless trailers you shouldn’t bother trying to buckle up one side when it’s un/loaded as you’ll end up doing it again once the other side is off/on
