This one seems as though he may be a bit too thick to be a lorry driver, especially with modern technology.

Hey, I’ll have you know I’ve met some real thick Drivers. Mentioning no names
if they didn’t keep changing the rules, then he would have had 7.5 ton entitlement.
so i blame the germans.
The bit that concerns me most is the lack of authorisation to drive 7.5 tonne. Given that the youngest people to get grandfather rights on this are now in their early 30’s, and that it’s also a given that scaffolding and the like is predominantly a younger man’s game, how many more are out there that haven’t been caught? No valid licence = no valid insurance after all; and in my experience a lot of people still think anyone can drive a 7.5 on a car licence.
And of course the knock-on effect on the haulage industry. To the media, a lorry driver is a lorry driver even if he’s only in a Transit, we get enough bad press as it is.

Yes I agree, no doubt it will be reported that he was driving a heavy lorry or a juggernaut
At least on their website they do not profess to be compliant
Our health and safety systems and procedures have been independently assessed and inspected by the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) and we are registered with CHAS as a compliment contractor meeting all their health and safety requirements.
Peter Wood, or is it?

It is part of making you a professional Phil
Without these rules any silly bugger could …
Oh never mind!
Does seem a bit strange, did the Driver not fill in the Tacho before hand? At what point did he put a name on it?
Anyway, to be honest I think it’s petty. If it was a Rigid or Artic but a 7.5t that lots of people have got for nowt, come on ffs.
Hardly crime of the century. A licence is just a bit of paper and no indicator of skill. Over the top punishment as usual ignoring real criminals.

True. However, as mentioned above, it does serve to prove that you’ve passed a test, are qualified to drive the vehicle, and by default satisfy the conditions on insurance.
It’s all fine and dandy till you prang the truck, wipe someone’s life out then they find out the insurance ain’t paying up. It just ain’t worth it.

It did cross my mind to mention them but I thought I’d be generous and allow you the punchline.

It’s okay, don’t worry. No children were harmed in the creation of this thread or any subsequent posts.

Taking a wild guess, could it be a digi-tacho?
If not, then he’s filled it in with the wrong name due to them keeping records etc?? His name, not licenced to drive vehicle, bad news…

Its driver, who had a tachograph under the name “P Wood”, told the traffic examiner his name was Peter Wood.
However, a DVLA check showed that his face did not match the photograph of the person whose name had been given
My Digi card has a picture of me on it so… take another wild guess.
The driver was told to put another name on the tacho, so the company was complicit in telling somebody to drive a vehicle they knew he didn’t have a license to drive, they get what they deserve in my opinon

So has my driving licence and by the wonders of modern telecommunicating I reckon VOSA can view a copy D/L on their systems.
His driver number would start with PWOOD****P9

You been wiping your arse with a dictionary?
Anyway, that would mean it had an analogue tacho, at what point did he put a false name on it?

Would you say that if this blokes driving killed a family member or friend? I thought part of VOSA
s job was to tackle rogue/cowboy operators/drivers, which they`ve done here.
