if you have a residence in Germany you can apply for an exchange/duplicate of a UK driver card
at the local driving licence office there (Lubeck).
Sincerely
Carsten Schröder
You need residency? Why?
If you have two drivers. One lorry fitted with a digi tacho and the other on analogue, Both working abroad for several months.
The one on analogue has a distinct competitive advantage over the one on digi card.
if you run out of analogue charts, then you can go and get some more.
If you’re digi card goes wrong, Then you’ve got to return to the UK, or get a flat/house in Germany.
The Germans, or for that matter any other EU nation, will only send a duplicate card to an address in their country they can control or check.
Just as the DVLA will only send a duplicate card to an address in the UK. BAG, and or VOSA, would expect you to take into account the time you’re going to be away, and make arrangements to suit.
You seem very concerned about this. It’s not as if digi cards play up all the time. I’m sure the German company would let you use there address to swap your licence for a German one then you could get a German digi card.

Not majorly concerned. I simply wanted to find out what was what. Trying to be self sufficient.
I’ve just sent off for a new card and i’ve never had any trouble in the past, But if anything did go wrong it is nice to be fully informed about what to do beforehand, Rather than trying to sort things out with the language barrier etc.
