Unescorted wide loads.... oooops

2 wide loads in Suffolk were pulled over for no escorts, no proper markings and no paperwork.
I wonder what the penalty for this is?

The Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team (NSRAPT)

I know it happened in the badlands of the Norfolk Suffolk border, but I didn’t realise things had got so bad they needed armed Police to patrol the roads. :open_mouth:

Typical truck drivers attitude. The law doesn’t apply to us, this is how we always do it.
Why!!,
Just beggars belief doesn’t it?

ESDAL…tut

Can’t see from the second vehicle, but the first one looks like a foreigner to me, based on the character visible on the partially obscured number plate. If so, they probably figured the law really didn’t apply to them :unamused:

Didnt read that the 1st time I read the article, and I didnt even know we had a patrolling firearms team over here in Norfolk/Suffolk.

Looking at this picture, the trailer looks like a proper boat carrying trailer, so it could be that who ever is pulling the trailer does this kind of haulage for a living, and if so, how many times have they done this without an ■■■■■■?

It’s cowboys like this that cause dvsa to pounce on those of us doing it properly. They’ve got no ■■■■■■, no rear marker lights, no extended mirrors/cameras for side visibility, most likely no movement order/police permission. As said, looks like they do ab loads all the time so they know full well what is required. Hope they got the book thrown at them. Companies such as ours spend a fortune and go to a heck of an effort to stay legal moving ab loads, if they can’t be arsed to then they deserve to be taken off the road.

I’m not wide load savvy but I sometimes look at loads like this and think, wheres his ■■■■■■ and is he allowed to move around with a load like that without an ■■■■■■?

government do it in metres but our loads range in approx 2ft steps from 10ft up to some that one artic is covered to move at about 16ft . 10ft needs no ■■■■■■, 12ft needs ■■■■■■ on single carriageway. After 14ft 1 you go into stgo cat 1 which is escorted all the way holding 2 lanes on motorway/ dual carriageway although once onto dual carriageway he does try to squeeze in one lane (where no risk of damage by trees on left) to avoid huge traffic build up. stgo also has much tighter restrictions on speed you can travel at and times you’re permitted to move at. Worst thing is most counties police seem to have different rules on when you can and can’t move.

…always a laugh when you’re running at 10ft on single carriageway, meet a lorry and get shouted at something along the lines of “■■■■■■■ hell, didn’t know you were coming, wheres your ■■■■■■?”

Are those V8 stickers either side of the blue trailer ? If so, then definitely exempt from laws

Someone on here is going to recognise that trailer soon

It should definitely be tea and biscuits with the TC. The Abnormal Loads regs form an important part of the TM’s CPC course.

Read the replies and you’ll see one of them was more a simple error by a respected haulier and experienced driver(not me BTW) than a flagrent disregarding of the law.

Or you could just continue to speculate and condemn in ignorance :unamused:

Movement orders…pfft

Did one to rhyl, the other day.
Couldn’t use the a525,even though it’s d/c all the way to the job…because it apparently has width restrictions
Approved route was through flint, prestatyn and rhyl town centre. :unamused:

im wondering if the ■■■■■■ type van in the 1st pic is running with them and theres some pishy reason its not full spec.
the 2nd pic boat isnt exactly megawide anyway.
id reckon any nitpicking beancounter uk plod relocating over to ireland would just have a heart attack within the 1st hour of coming off the boat.

If the rozzers got their own house in order, and employed somebody who actually knew the local roads layout, instead of the force ■■■■■ muncher…then maybe we could progress.

Much easier to fork about on Twitter though.
Makes the sheep think they’re doing a good job

Penalty is a court summons with possible fine upto £5000. This could then lead to a invitation for tea and biscuits with the Traffic Commisioner.
