I’m not buying it either.Sounds like a bloke I worked with once who raced around like a blue arsed fly all day, carving the job up because he ‘needed’ to be done by 3pm everyday to pick his kids up from school. He used to phone the stores (whilst driving) 5 mins before he got there so they were waiting upon his arrival, then have sweat pouring off him as he frantically offloaded the gear like some sort of lunatic. The tacho was always on break. You could have made a comedy sketch out of the way he went on, always looked totally frantic.
So he worked hard, to get home to pick his kids up, and you have a problem with that, O I see it now, he was doing the job faster and better than you and your mates, making you look like slackers.
We’ve a couple of blokes excatlly the same, crack on. Doesn’t affect me, why bother…
Why ‘‘slackers’’ though mate, if they were doing the job at a safe sensible pace?
If what he says is accurate ie…‘‘Carving up the job/frantically offloading/sweat pouring’’ etc,.and running illegally to boot, then the o/p makes a good point.
You say it doesn’t affect you, …ok then, but what if some pointy shoe whizz kid manager looking to make a name for himself, picks up on the fact that Mr Head is doing the job quicker than you and your legal running mates, and demands you try and keep up with him.
Ok maybe you wouldn’t even attempt to and neither would I, but there are those that are daft enough to, making it awkward for everyone else,.and if a firm want shut of you they sure as hell will eventually,… constructive dismissal laws or not.
These type of pricks are like an infestation in good to work for firms who invariably ■■■■ things up for everybody else.
