Unannounced night closures - Crosskeys Bridge (A17)

just a heads up, this bridge is prone to unplanned, unannounced closures (roadworks) at night. It was closed last night and the night before without prior warning, without announcement on the highways website, doesn’t show as closed on google maps/traffic and the only way around is drive back 10 miles or so to the a17/a47 roundabout and then on to Wisbech etc. of course there’s no signed diversion either. Isn’t that an unlawful closure? Basically it turns out any ol’ schmuck with a van and a few orange cones can close off any road for whatever reason they deem fit??

No such thing exists as long as it’s Highways Agency or local authority doing it. If it’s local authority doing it it won’t be on Highways Agency site.

Thank you!

From the article…

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways said working overnight would minimize disruption for drivers.

‘Signs will be used to give advance notice to drivers ahead of the closures’ - obviously not !

Yeah because in their world nobody works after 1700.
This society needs to pay more respect to the night workers :imp:
