Don’t know about anybody else, but I see a rat somewhere most days, compared to past times.
Problem seems to be getting worse in the country personally I would face anything or anybody apart from a rat.
I kin hate them.

trouble is… when you have piles of rubbish rats thrive. They are worse than rabbits for breeding so then there isnt enough food so they spread into clean areas and are more easily seen.
Yes I certainly seem to be seeing them more often now.
yep there’s some round our yard
Your never far from a rat and that has always been the case, in most cases you usually end up working with a few in this industry
Well the old saying of your never more than 6 feet from a rat always seems to apply.
Anywhere there is food and or food wates rats will be in abundance.
My little palace does not have a rat problem yet but with so many neighbours chucking their meal left overs on the lawns they can’t be far away.We already have pigeons the size of jumbo jets.
Braised pigeon is OK in my book, but I am not so sure about rat meat. I daresay it will OK, but the thought puts me right off of it.
Royal Marine survival course ….
I’m told rat tastes like…..you guessed it.
Chicken.
I stop at Stafford south services for my break. Used to park along side the grass verge just past the pumps. As bit quieter to enable me to have a kip .
And the grass there is full of them..
Although started using the truck parking area now as seen so many there plus there bit of a whiff of something when it’s warm
In the Vietnam war, the enemy would place a starving rat on the belly of a POW then place a copper pot on top of the rat so it had no way to escape, the only way to escape was for the rodent to chew away the inside’s of the poor soldier who died in a painful and lingering death.
Is it the same one Rob that’s following you around or do you just visit a lot of infested areas?
At my house the cat literally dealt with the rat problem in the immediate area. Just get cats and the problem is usually solved (usually as not all cats can take on rats). I think the known tally so far is about 3-4 rats in the course of seven years. So not many rats around here.
Wood pigeon is like mini-venison. I do recommend. It’s easy to field dress as well and you cook it like steak in a frying pan. Never tried braising though.
My mrs cat is a killing machine , not a day goes by without something by back door or if he can dropped on the kitchen floor ( screams from the wife )
But rat wise I’d go for the couples Jack russel up the road , apparently there was a issue with rats under some decking , he ripped them to shreds , nasty little thing , he’ll have a go at anything
The odd occasion I have had pigeon it has been a rather dry breast meat. I don’t think it would have fried well. Maybe older tougher birds.
Guess yours had plumper breasts…….
