For those of you who donโ€™t know what Ubuntu is:

I have been using Linux for many years now and find it a great alternative to Micro$oft Windoze. I am an open source advocate and interested in all sorts of different distributions. If there are any Linux newbies on here or people that want to try Linux for the first time feel free to message me with your questions and I will endeavor to get back back to you asap.

There are also Linux forums and events that you can take part in. Check out Linux format magazine for lots of useful info:

I know that there is a learning curve with Linux. I have even thought about posting some command line tutorials on here to get people started.

I had a play with Linux years ago just out of idle curiosity - but couldnโ€™t help feeling that there was something deeply inelegant about having to rebuild the kernel to include each new application that you want to install. Or is it different these days? Iโ€™ve just remembered that I did study MINIX as part of the Operating Systems course I did at University. That memory was well supressed though - must have repressed it for a reason
