As the topic says. I broke down last night at 10:30, in Germany i may add and the boss is sorting recovery from the UK. Oh the joys, I think they are coming from Outermongolia by christ. And the heat, am melting away stuck in a ■■■■■■ rest area with nothing round about apart from a busy autobahn. I’m going insane.
They bosses don’t hurry along do they lol.
I spent almost 10 hours waiting for recovery a few weeks back and I was only an hour away from the depot!
Could have walked back quicker.

Here comes the rub. After taking down details of registration number, type and colour of vehicle, location of vehicle, reported problem etc comes the $64,000 question:

Changed a prop shaft by the roadside in Spain in about 1988 that was delivered by a Scottish guy in a Transit van. Lost two days …but at least we were in a good spot and the air con worked !

I’ll take your 10 hours and an hour away from base and raise it to 9 hours and only 15 minutes from base.

Once had a tipper ram snap in a farmyard in Clun. It took 2 recovery drivers and me a day and a half to dig the 28 ton of biscuit meal out of the body of the tipper. At least I got a night in that fabulous touristy destination, Telford.
Because of the shape of the yard we couldn’t get the wagon out on the wrecker so ended up driving it of the yard and down to the main yard to a lay by. Handling wasn’t too great with 6 flat tyres and flattened rims. Also no windscreen and seat covered in hydraulic oil and broken glass.
In hindsight I should have refused to dive it on the public highway because the number plate had fallen off.
A beer drinking buddy had a tipper ram snap while it was raised (loaded). It folded in the middle, snapped and crashed through the back of the cab.
