You have to make the lazy prats move the chains on some routes otherwise they will have you running over the hooks

not really, as Malc said, you might have to get the lazy dockers to actually do something for a change, and get them to move the chains, but apart from that, not had any damage

can’t comment on the Isle of Wight route, as i have never been there

I think the problem is the lashing points are dreadful to drive across are tear the tyres to bits.

Been on the IOW ones a couple of times, never been chained down and i cant remember but i think the deck just had that grippy paint on it

Been on the IOW ferry loads, never been chained down and never had a problem with tyres, the biggest problem we find is the back end grounding out, but since they have introduced the bigger ferries, this is less of a problem

Any dock I’ve been to where I’ve had the pleasure of watching tugs reverse unaccompanied trailers makes me cringe, especially when they arrive at the gangway and slew a loaded trailer on the spot taking several 1000 km’s of rubber and chunks off the tyres :frowning:

I’ve been on the ferries to & from the island with a sem low loader no ground out issues or tyre problems to report from Me…

I remember some years ago in Felixstowe putting a truck on to Helsinki in a February & the loading officer saying I had to go open deck :open_mouth: I refused as it gets a tad chilly up The Baltic Sea & then had to drop the trailer whence a tug picked it up & tore both landing legs off it driving onto the ferry as the loading officer roared with laughter. Tossers the world over are most tug drivers…
