I’ve been asked by Faber Munsell to post the following on behalf of the Tyne & Wear Transport Authority
The Tyne Tunnel will be closed to Traffic from 5am Saturday 5th June until 11pm Sunday 6th June to allow the demolition of the bridge over the tunnel entrance, for safety reasons the tunnel will be closed to all traffic.
Nice to see that sense has prevailed Davey, and that they are doing it on a weekend instead of say, Monday morning. You could just imagine the build up of traffic along Sunderland Road and over the Tyne and into Jesmond, for to get along to Shields if they had done. 
Although for them to take so long to demolish a bridge, (Or what’s left of it after I saw it last week.) is a bit crap really. My mate used to demolish railway bridges for May Gurney, and could do them overnight, AND clear the area of debris.

Its coming along well though to be fair, cant wait until they are both running and the que’s arnt as bad
