Two versus one?

Hi
Just a noob type question …I have noticed that most work in Lincolnshire is for class one and that there are few class two jobs Anyone care to speculate as to why?

That wil be down to what works best for the jobs that need doing in that area

It could also be that journeys take longer due to no motorways so more night out runs are required which means using artics as they can carry more

Lincolnshire has got a massive food industry - both growing and processing. Fresh food demands chilled distribution often to supermarket RDC’s and this will be quantities that need artics.
Pure speculation but that’s the first thing that comes to mind.
All the best, Pete

Isn’t it the case nationwide, you only have to note the type of trucks you pass and by far the majority are C+E. As far as Lincolnshire is concerned, as Peter said there is a lot of chilled produce, which has a fast turnaround and trailers are cheaper than a Cat C truck, so one can be being loaded whilst another is being delivered.

As wages aren’t a lot different between Cat and C+E, it is more economical to deliver 26 pallets with one driver than 16-18 on a rigid.

yep im lincolnshire and you dont see many lgv vehicles about at all its mainly cat c+e, which is why im hoping to pass both cat c and c+e asap, start cat c this week fingers crossed all goes well.

Lincolnshire is a big county. Almost every man and his dog have a four wheeler in the fleet, more so with the pallet networks.

Have you got a yellow pages for your area?
