Two dead after M-way coach crash

Thanks Coffeeholic

It was confusing NSH but I think we had all pretty much guessed the bend and direction. You can see the Tightening of the bend in Coffee’s picture very well shame it doesn’t show the reverse camber on the bend.

You can see from the picture I saw the bend tightening (the police have the first incident lights at the point) you can also see the ridiculous camber change right as the bend tightens. The road designers need to be held partially responsible IMO.

My Last post on this one due to the tragic circumstances for all involved.

BTW, your picture shows that the coach landed on its right side and not left, that is the rear window we can see on the left of the picture. It also shows police and rescue vehicles parked on the merged section of the two slip roads beyond the coach. That explains why the other slip road, M4 east to M25 clockwise, was also closed.

From todays Sun…

THE coach in the M4 horror was going flat out at 62MPH when it crashed on a slip road bend, a survivor said last night.

That sounds like typical Sun reporting to me. The vehicle is capable of 62mph, so it’s reported as doing that speed as it sounds more dramatic.

Also talk to any accident investigation officer and they will tell you witnesses estimated speeds are normally wrong, this is due to people preconception and prejudices. Typical example “is the motorbike was doing 70+ through the high street.” When checked it was a 50cc moped capable of 35mph downhill with a following wind, but it had a noisy exhaust so sounds like it’s going fast.

…or" Bus fell over due to excessive speeds. " In fact all the bus did was fall over while the witness was a passenger in it. Completely unreliable evidence.

I must admit that i feel the same as you, especialy as they didnt arrest him until about 11.30am, nearly 12hrs after the event. To me that says intial investigations throw up some questioned to be answered.

To me it says that he was quite possibly at the hospital being treated for injuries and was arrested after that treatment.
.

Yes, i see what you say.

Either way, there are questions that only he can answer.

That does sound like Sun reporters, I agree that it was speed that caused the accident cos double decker busses dont just fall over.

However why did the fact that the driver was a karaoke singer have any affect on the accident :astonished:
