Hi
Been reading the Mcgregor Transflash thread, I worked for Bibbys yeadon depot in the late 80’s - early 90’s. Bibbys took over Transport Warehousing Facilities, who were at the time doing continental work, loading out of Transflash/ Nedloyd in bradford. the night trunkers used to run from Leeds to Glasgow & Leeds to milton Keynes doing a trailer swap, the return trailers were usually loaded with groupage and went straight to Nedloyd Bradford, where the goods would be transfered to waiting Bibby tilts… Here’s a few pics
D692RRN, low datum cabbed Roadtrain in TWF colours, later painted in bibby blue, this motor did regular Italy
D389JBA, this unit and trailer were both given the Bibby treatment
D389JBA, painted in BIBBY blue, at Aosta
G42NCA… I think Sudden Accident Strato, at Yeadon
We have met before, at Gaydon show a few years ago - I’d forgotten that it was Transport & Warehousing Facilities before Bibby bought them out. They were sort of forced on me on the Italian work to begin with, our ■■■■ of an office manager was mates with some big fat bloke at TWF, but Alan (Binks?) and the other few drivers were good lads and Bibby did the job properly, if not quite as ‘rapidly’ as some of the small subbies our agent tended not to load owt mega urgent on their loads!
Hi jj72
I remember seeing you at Gaydon a few years ago,
The lads that did the continent at Bibbys had it easy, they seemed to take as long as they wanted and no one really bothered them… old days eh
They were, Terry hutchinson, Keith Delaney, Alan Binch, Robert Davey,( AKA lurch ) Steve Possance, Brian Mack RIP, Peter Snowden ( snowy ) … prob some more, but memory’s fading
In the traffic office was Phil Gledhill ( Tosh )… slave driver
Had some good times up there though, a decent bunch of lads
