Lets just take it you knew what you intended to say,but it got lost slightly when you tried putting in writing.

I thought i had heard it all…until this post…Will my new truck have a tv in it …sorry mate, but that has to be the worst question i have ever heard…it actually beats : How many hours can i work : etc etc.
Now to my question ; i have just bought a new 64 inch smart tv, and wondered if it will fit on the back wall of my Daf super mega spacecab automatic with hill start, it does have 12 spotlights already fitted, will this impede the tv connections ?

You i did not ask if my new truck would have a tv in it i asked IF I COULD FIT MY HOUSEHOLD TV INTO A TRUCK

If you don’t mind though i’d be more then happy if you could answer the question about the hours as i am totally clueless on what i can and cannot work… I can drive 6 hours without stopping right? but i must take a break after 4.5 hours of working :imp: :unamused: :imp: and i can work 144 hours in a single week■■?

Just remember the older drivers are old school and are always the first to help you out mate! Whether that’s directions or watching you in spaces. Not having a pop but these guys will more than likely show you the most respect too. Or at least that’s what I’ve found

When I started in this job, the help I got from older experienced drivers was invaluable.
It has got to the stage where I am now in that category, (athough I still have a bloody long way to catch up with Truckyboy) I still see a couple of the guys today, who helped me, who are now getting on a bit, and I willingly still buy them a pint.

I will, and do, help any new driver as much as I can, but avoid the knowall smartarses who think they know better, even though they have done absolutely [zb] all :unamused: like crabs.

I just think the o/p’s attitude was ott and out of order, especialy as the post did say what was disputed by him in the first place.

I’m only 25 and nearly 6 years passed. After going with my old man every chance I got I learnt respect and still see a lot of the guys he worked with on the road and the pub on a Sunday afternoon. Yes some young drivers are maybe Missguided or just have a total lack of respect. Although on the whole I think pretty Decent. I’ve found a good attitude gets me tipped quicker and the folks out on the road help me out if needed. Works both ways I feel though. Maybe ergot said the wrong thing. Maybe it came across wrong on the screen. I’m not sure but either way I think he might of learnt from the comments he has received.

Yes indeed Rob, I couldn’t agree more on all counts.

The OP does indeed say exactly what you quoted.

It’s possibly with some hindsight that the OP might come to realise that (given his signature) he might have posted his question in the Newbies’ Forum, which caters for such questions and those newer posters who have a delicate disposition and a shiny new licence.

Only some respect and contrition can save this situation, because there are quite a number of us that have held an LGV licence for somewhat longer than the OP has been alive.

I’m all for bringing newbies on and helping them out etc, and the attitude seems to have been adjusted, so it’s already heading in the right direction.

Yeh agreed.
I aint saying every driver of our age, experience and type are all perfect or worth listening to, we have our share of steerers as well as the younger guys.
I know Truckyboy is well capable of speaking up for himself, but by his signature he has been involved in transport since 1963… even I was only 5 years old then ffs. :open_mouth:

Maybe it’s me who is getting a bit over dramatic and less tolerant, but I think an apology was appropriate somewhere along the line tbh…but hey, it’s a forum, we aint all in a bar with half a dozen pints on board about to kick off are we, so maybe best knocked on the head.

I don’t have a tv ,I did once have a minut black n white ,these days iam one of these stop watch drivers 9 hrs off and go ,once the cards out its eat n sleep  ,I know some of the older     drivers on here disagree with this :stuck_out_tongue:

Is that a mild friendly pop Dan or what?
There’s big difference between an employed driver and an owner driver. The way you describe is the way I done it also as an o/d, tbh…although it was not 9 minimum at that time.

I used to spend the first few hours of a rest period fiddling the log book when I first started in my Bedford TK …

It’s poor troll  , if it’s not the minimum then it’s push bike & pub !

these do ?

Ergot, you did state at the beginning of your post: i wonder if my new truck has a tv in it…then after you asked whether you can fit a household one in.
I admit i was a bit pedantic, as we do sometime get some silly questions that can be answered by the op him/herself…i was merely pointing that out, as others before me has done in the past. Yes i am old school as others have pointed out, in fact i am 70 years old, and still doing my bit, and have just renewed my licence once again…cos i love the industry i am in, and am very proud to have served this industry for over 50 years…However, that doesnt give me the right to take the ■■■■ as it were . but being a joker most of my life, i cant help it…and often do it… so apologies if it upsets you, but the more people bark, the harder i bark back   …no apology needed from you…i`m as hard as nails, and will come round your house with my dad…and Rob…and a few of the others…so be afraid…very afraid…

Do you know where i live? i’ve just called 999 and reported this

Ergo, my secretary spoke with a member of the IRA earlier, and they verified your address before i answered the post…in fact a few on their way right now, if someone knocks on your door pretending to be a delivery driver with a parcel to be signed for, run as fast as you can…especially if theyre wearing a balaclava and dark glasses.

pffffffft !
