TV Casting - Charismatic hauliers who work in the UK and EU

Hey Gents…I’m the guy who posted the notice about the TV show casting. I’ve read over all your comments.

So here’s the deal. The show will get made because we have an order for it, so why not find us some real characters who are good at what they do? We don’t set out to make anyone look bad, but we need real professionals like yourselves to be involved so we can make an authentic show. If you want to make your industry look good, then join us and be a representative of the industry.

The show is good, clean fun and a handful of hauliers will enjoy some fame from it. If anyone is interested, write to casting@megalomedia.com .

Agreed, apart from that he is Canada/ USA based.

I’d do it, I ooze charisma and rugged good looks and my truck looks even better, I could even sort out a run to Istanbul or somesuch to make for some really interesting TV but first I’d want to know “What’s in it for me?” :stuck_out_tongue:

You is flogging a dead horse mate.

Firstly, a ‘charismatic individual’ (such as myself) doesn’t spend most of it’s leisure time on TNUK. Secondly, a sad bloke called ‘Rog’ accounts for 95% of the traffic here & it/he certainly lacks charisma.

Thirdly, the 5% of us who are here 'cos we drive big trucks with lots of wheels, wouldn’t give you the time of day because (a) you are probably just another figment of ‘Rog’s’ imagination & (b) you are so obviously a sock puppet that it is unbelievable that only yourself thinks you might get away with it.

No, the OP almost certainly is on the level, for years we were treated as objects of hatred in the mainstream media, the changing point was Ice Road Truckers, which was the first TV programme ever about our job to attract a positive view about truck drivers, and which made a fortune for the production company who had the idea.

“Eddie Stobart Trucks and Trailers” was just a “me too” version of “Ice Road Truckers”, and although it was hampered by the sheer impossibility of making UK distribution work look interesting or dangerous, it too has made a lot of money for its production company.

I don’t see anything wrong with current craze of truck drivers being lionised in the media and appreciated for the essential role we play in the everyday life of society, I have absolutely no doubt that the OP is looking to make a film which follows the herd and portrays the industry in a positive light.

I’ve rode motorcycles for more then 40yrs Harry. Please don’t try to explain how a lorry driver could ever be held in such low esteem as I was 20yrs ago, because it simply never happened.

The OP is a troll post by a renowned TNUK troll poster who commands numerous sock puppets.

Rikky doesn’t seen to GAF?

Please don’t confirm to the few of us left, that you are one of its socks also.

So are you looking to film a UK version of " Shipping Wars " ?

I watched an episode last week and it wound me up so much that I had to turn it off . How many owner drivers in this industry do you think will " look good " when you show them undercutting each other in an Ebay style bid for work ■■ Some of the examples you showed were inept , one guy won a load and then realised he couldn’t fit the load on his trailer , he didn’t even have the correct paperwork in place to be an owner driver OR a licence plate FFS :imp:

I watched, and from what I could gather they were only bidding exclusively against other contestants on the show in a heavily contrived competition. The only reason you’d go on is if you’re pathetic enough to want a brief moment on tv, and maybe humiliated on Harry Hill too if you’re lucky, there would be no benefit to your business off the back of it.

It`s media…You must think that we are all muppets…And honestly, I find that condescending.
I have had involvement with TV companies at many levels, including the BBC.
Leave it out, come back when you are grown up.
You want characters for sensationalism and veiwing figure in the interests of profit, that is your main and overiding motivation…Money.
There is so much more to life.

My offer still stands to the Admin here.

Wow, thats me to a tee, im deffo in.

I can assure you I’m far to anti social to make a tv show about.

Clarkgray? would you be Gray Clark who worked at a newspaper in Egham a good few years back? I recall that name from a long ago job.

Id be brilliant at this, am full of quality patter :sunglasses: Can you handle the excitement of tesco livi direct trunk, i could call in a favour and get a self tip lidl for the ‘‘danger element’’ also

Im also cheaper than harry monk.

Yea but I live far more dangerously, what if my brakes were to fail going down that quarter-mile 1 in 60 hill on the A303?

just sat and read through all the posts, to be honest i’ve now got no idea now whether this is a fake thread or whats going on - but it sounds cringe worthy to be honesty, if someone wants to make a small documentary about how little profit there is in the job, which is what we need is’nt really - maybe the government might wake up and help out with the cost of fuel if they see it in a real world format rather than some report - i’d be happy for someone to come and film me graft then count the penny’s left over! zero interest in an eddie stobart style program, total crap in my opinion.
