not alot and work u !!!
i don’t no the exact amount but turners are not known for being the best payers , on the flip side there ok to work for its steady work and they keep there equipment in good condition
If it`s like the pay rate on containers it will be £7.50 per hour for the first 8 hours, then a higher rate after that
I went for an interview with turners on tankers earlier this year. The vehicles were based in the Midlands and the work was based North West (Liverpool docks IIRC) - so tramping.
The basic hourly rate was actually below NMW but with a little guaranteed overtime at a slightly better rate it pushed the average up to just above minimum wage, I suppose this is what made it legal.
Then there was a bonus system based on a complicated points scheme where you gained so many points per mile driven, points per load, points per tip etc. If the job ran smoothly and you got allocated sufficient work it appeared that you could probably make £9 or £10 per hour.
The chap who interviewed me told me “you can earn up to £150 a shift”. On closer inspection of his figures I worked out that to earn £150 for a shift I would have to work like a dog for 15 hours and that it actually included the night out money.
Depends how badly you need a job I suppose - they seem to find plenty of people to work for them, I believe they have many different pay schemes for different jobs/depots.
80 pounds per day on sugar contract
I wouldn’t touch Turner’s with a barge pole.
You only need to take a look at their list of vacancies on their website to realize what type of company they are to work for.
Do you think having so many vacancies available (and it’s been like this since I care to remember) on haulier’s website is a sign of good pay, terms and conditions, or is it maybe because nobody wants to work for them?

I think they may have lots of vacancies available because who ever you speak to ,and tells you he will put a application form in post doesn’t actually put one in the post
,or maybe I’m expecting to much of the royal mail, and 2 yrs 4 months to get a application from bicker/ donning ton - grantham is reasonable ,may be tomorrow ,we can only hope

In the 90’s that job(sugar contract) based from Norwich depot was a brilliant job. Was paid on task rates, ie so much to tip/load, so much a mile and all that sort off stuff. The lads that were on it made a mint, from what they lead Me to believe anyway. What went wrong

Didn’t take a ‘flipflop’ to drive the pay down in your job though did it?
