Turners of Soham Idiot!

WHER WAS IT?

You get this kinda thing on the A17 all the time.
40 is the limit so that’s not really a problem, however when they get to the Sleaford bypass they speed up to 56! I thought the limit for a truck was 50 on dual carriageway! This is why other drivers get angry because 3-4 miles later its back to 40 again! There is no need for it! Obey the law fully or not at all!

I’m on bulk liquids on Turners but I have a full head of hair, which is a relief

Do you crack on at 40-50mph in built-up areas? Or are you similarly selective in which bits of the law you obey? What about 20mph limits - Do you obey them?

Here we go again! :unamused:

Been driving 20 years…

Most of us have learned that “expressing your displeasure” achieves nothing other than giving the person who displeasured you a) the satisfaction of knowing they’ve displeasured you or b) the desire to displeasure you even further.

Most of us didn’t take 20 years to learn this either.

Blame your boss for setting your limiter so low, that’s what I do, no point getting wound up about it. I believe in karma anyway so they’ll get theirs

+1 this is so infuriating why obey one law and not another.Just deserts for one driver who did this on the A75 thought it funny to sit at 38mph from M6 to dumfries then hit the limiter on the wee bit of DC and was promptly pulled for speeding those of us who had been held up by him all gave him a big thank you we passed

You can’t get passed? But it’s the other guys fault?
You grass up a fellow driver?
You get irate and show your displeasure?

I think you need to grow up, Then concentrate on driving in a professional manner in future.

Go on then - why do you obey one law and not another?

These threads do my ■■■■ in! Nobody gives a flying ■■■■! You don’t think stuff like this happens to the rest of us?

I bet it has went along the lines of this…

Turners sitting doing 52mph either coming to a hill speeds up to make it, or its coming to a downhill away he goes. But at the same time you’re trying to overtake. But he starts pulling away so you come in right behind him up his arse moaning like a little ■■■■■ flashing your lights, ■■■■■■ gestures etc then he pumps the brakes at you. You then type in turners of soham inot google to get contact details and turn into a supergrass aka ROG. But thats no enough you then decide to log onto trucknet and bore the ■■■■ off us about it.

So you’re ‘‘english’’ England has a population of over 50 million but you’re right you may come across him again or will you just come across that registration with a different driver at the wheel, how will you know? Next time you come across this registration are you going to do something stupid in retaliation?

THIS ^^^

I’m happy to sit at 3 cliks below, but I’m not afraid to let it roll up to 96, if that means ■■■■■■■ off another driver who wants to try overtake me on the crest of a hill so be it, I drive my rig not anyone else’s, it’s up to them to plan ahead just like I do.

I’m with the OP on this one. Sounds like the turners driver was just trying to annoy him for no reason whatsoever. Don’t understand the polish comments … all the turners drivers that deliver to my place are as english as you can get …

I used to ease off when someone was taking a long time to overtake out of courtesy, but looking at some of the comments here it seems i’ve been doing it wrong. Next time I will just sit on the limiter and leave the overtaker to struggle until he is either past me or we catch up with a shopping trolley and I have to slow down.

Good grief :unamused:

Not sure what you’re getting at here if you drive at 40 on all single carriage way then you should drive at 50 on dual carriageway which is my point hitting the limiter on a dual is as illegal as driving at 50 on a single carriageway, personnally i sit on the limiter whenever the situation allows and that is my choice and i will not critisize any man who sits at 40 however will find it amusing when same driver doesn’t know the limit for a dual carrigeway

What if you drive at 44mph on a single carriageway? Does that mean it’s acceptable to drive at 55mph on a dual carriageway?

I hope so, because that’s what I do.

One thing I have noticed on the A36 round Warminster is that HGVs sit at 40mph and then when the road changes to two lanes up hill and one lane down hill they speed up to 56mph. It’s still a single carriage way! It only becomes dual carriage way when there is a seperator between the opposite directions. It’s very annoying if you are in a 7.5 tonner stuck behind an hgv doing 40 then when you do get an extra lane to overtake they speed up cos they think its dual carriage way. It’s not! You can have 5 lanes in either direction and its still a single carriage way unless there is a sign saying dual carriage way or grass or a barrier or some other sperator between the the oncoming traffic. The drivers that speed up to 56mph on a two lane singe carriage way are either ignorant or just being awkward zbs. Dual carriage way means TWO seperate roads

I cannot go any faster then 52 so i have to plan ahead if it is worth me overtaking or not as i haven’t got the grunt like most trucks have lol

There is definitely a hill involved in this. You wouldn’t be doing 52 then see somebody overtaking and purposely speed up off your cruise control. Most of us drive gutless pieces of ■■■■ and where hills are concerned look after number one in my book. The fact that this turners guy is doing 52 when he is in fact limited to 55 tells me he doesn’t like to get involved in drag races.

I dont know if anyone has noticed but ive found drag races are becoming pretty rare compared to a few years ago where one could go on for 3-4miles easily. Maybe the lorry brethren is wising up!
