Apparently the mob taking over on the 1st July have said No holidays are to be sanctioned between now & the 1st July , can they do that ? Seems strange that they can dictate what happens when there not even running the contract .
What shower of are taking over ?
Pre arranged and standing holidays or fresh holiday bookings Ady?
If they are talking about fresh bookings I can kinda understand that as they are coming in, if not blind then near enough so they will be figuring things out on a day by day basis.
If pre arranged then my understanding is that they have to honour them . I doubt you are unionised but if you are I’d be speaking to my rep quick smart.
Xpo blue estate
Our holidays are done on an app type thing , they have put a block on holidays upto 2027 ( that’s as far as I looked ) , I booked hols months ago moaster , ( July ) , they’ve now been changed to waiting approval .
I get full sick pay so will just go on the sick for 2 weeks .
It’s just not what I remember ever happening with tupe before .
I’m just confused as they don’t take over until 1 st July so I’m not sure how they can dictate holidays etc
Rep is leaving so not intrested,
If your union is Unite then ring Emma Page at Lincoln on 01522300084. They will be interested and it’s what you pay your dues for.
Plenty on here:
By law any company can tell you when to take holiday’s.
Long as they give notice legally then can say to you ok your taking a week’s leave in august.
But no company ever does it as imagine the uproar if they dictated when you can have holidays.
A company can refuse holidays and can also even tell you when you can take your holidays or have periods where you cannot book holidays.
They have to have a good business reason for such decisions though.
During December for example we cannot book holidays at all.
If the holidays are pre approved then I’d have thought they couldn’t change them after taking over, but a business can rescind a holiday approval with enough notice potentially.
I get companies can say No to holidays etc , but the ones who are apparently doing this arnt even running the contract yet , they don’t start to run the contract until the 1st of July
They have also now removed the holiday part of the app from the work app , so you can’t obviously book any holidays , or see if any have been approved or not now
I’ve just told them I’ve booked the hol , it was confirmed so I will be going whatever
Thanks all
Don’t know if your be classed as working for e new company.
But if you start a new job they have to honour give you time off for holidays booked in the first year
I don’t start working for them until the 1st July ( that’s when they take over the contract ) Edd , but apparently they’ve said no holidays / booking etc until they take over .
As I say it’s booked so I’m going
They may have put a clause in saying no holidays can be booked once they take over for a short period. But presumably any previously agreed holidays for the previous company would have to be honoured. I’d suggest you ask the question and find out what they mean as soon as they take over.
Simcor , they have now said they will discuss my holiday on the 1 st July when they takeover ( I fly on the 5 th of July )
This holiday was booked asthey granted my holiday months ago , now saying it’s declined & maybe granted / not granted on 1 st of July .
Theyl be talking to themselves on the 1 st of July as I’m going on holiday whatever , apparently another in my situation has been threaten with a disciplinary when he returns to work , not mention disciplinary to me .
I’m going on holiday whether they grant holiday or not , which is what I said to bloke today , there is nothing to discuss on 1 st July or any other time , I’m going on holiday , it’s paid for , it was agreed so that’s the end of the discussion as far as I’m concerned
I think I would have the same attitude.
If they try some sort of disciplinary afterwards, then any union rep, (maybe you will have a new one by then?) will help sort it out.
Cancelling a paid for holiday at short notice does not seem fair or reasonable to me.
I might be tempted to ask if they will compensate you for your lost holiday? Verbally, but not in writing, add in a certain amount for the inconvenience to yourself and your family of course.
I mean, you wouldn’t want to inconvenience the new owners, but equally expect they should not expect you to lose £££.
Watch them run.
I love my hols franglais so I don’t want any money , i want the hol
They can start dictating on the 1 st July when they take over contract ( not that I’ll be listening ) but not now when they don’t run the contract , that’s my whole point , they don’t run the contract , so how they think they can decline a hol that was agreed by the previous company I don’t know
That holiday should be honoured , but as I say I’m going whatever
I quite agree.
The “ask for a million quid” was only half serious. I
But if they did agree I would take the money and go for two last minute bargain hols instead not one full price one!
Nothing to worry about it’s a win win for you
If you booked it before they were in the pipeline then Nothing to worry about
If they do try to do something after the holiday just keep in your mind compensation and fleece them
They haven’t a leg to stand on its a win win especially with tupe
