Now I don’t mind a nice tuna sandwich, tuna & sweetcorn are good, tuna & (spring) onions are good too, but tuna & cucumber is nasty.
I will still buy tuna & cucumber sandwiches as I’ve no problem with opening them up and binning the cucumber but the latest thing to do is to grate the cucumber Now that’s not on because trying to pick out about 300 pieces of cucumber is just far too tedious I bought a sarnie from the services at the A34/Didcot junction and looking down the edge of the packet I was convinced it had large slices of cucumber in it and not shreads. WRONG I ate it anyway because I was so hungry but then wish I hadn’t as the cucumber soon came back up again along with the rest of the sandwich
Sainsbury’s have started doing a ham, cheese & pickle in one of those things you get with curries (japatti’s?) and it’s WELL nice Can’t get enough of those
I like Tesco’s ham, cheese & pickle sub roll too
Don’t eat prawn sandwich’s anymore because you always get one with an unshelled prawn in it and when your teeth have sunk into it, it really puts you off the rest of the sarnie Same goes for egg sarnies too
An old garage near me at my old house used to do a turkey, bacon & mayo sub for 80p and it was the best thing in the world LOL
I couldnever justify £3+ for any sandwiches when i could get a ginsters pasty for about £1.50 in some areas, however i am extremely prone to a good old cheese and onion sarny which may be used to bribe me at all times :).
when I was a student in sheffield I worked part time in a computer shop and one of the guys used to reugularly get a buttie from a shop round the corner - sunday dinner. roast beef, yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, 2 veg all inside a large bap. he needed half the office space just to make sure nothing got on his shirt.
however, when in sheffield you can do a lot worse than a hot pork roll with stuffing and crackling - lots of places do them but look out for ‘The Pork Shop’ (I think), I’m going up there tomorrow so I’ll do a name check
Hmmm…
Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam comes to mind.
Or Beetroot and Salad Cream or Cheese, pickle and pickled onions.
There’s a little shop around the corner from our yard and they do sandwiches for 99p. Two rounds of really fresh bread, real butter and plenty of filling. They are asian (no disrespect) so they most certainly are not making a loss on them. If they can do it why can’t everyone else. £2.99 for soggy bread and nearly frozen fillings that don’t taste of anything much is a plain and simple rip off.
