Trying to get driving experience

A have had my class 2 for 2 years now and trying to get driving experience. For free labour so if any one could help me a would be greatfull. Am from glasgow area am 25. No one will take me in as a have no experience so how do you get the experience. Can some one help me out thanks John

have you try’d local skip company’s ■■ they don’t really care about age or that crap they just want someone who will turn up on time and do the work and there a more than a few in the Glasgow area

i take it that means skip driving is amoug the least disirable kind of driving job then ? iv alwats thout there must e alot of hassle doing skip collections

A will try the skip comp then if that’s the best bet

Try the pallets multi drops,or night work and removals.Eures website for job looking and Rapido or Gumtree, and the VOSA have a website that lists O licence details, and you can locate firms in your area to approach, failing that place a free advert in the back of the truck magazines, where firms look for you,or look in the Trade It free mags where there are driving jobs.

no it means a lot of skip company’s will give you a chance more than the big blue chip company’s will, and there no more hassle doing skips than going into RDC and being messed about for hours on end

I have no experience too ive asked for skip firms they all say same u need experince . So how hell can u get experince if wont giv u chance it is very frustrating

Tell some white lies or make some Cv’ s up that are not exactly the truth but who will know and check if a firm was bankrupt thete is no proof you worked there or not.

You could offer to go out with another driver for free to learn the ropes if the alternative is doing nothing

I tried everything. Applied for 1000’s jobs and nothing. Rang my new boss, they had no vacancies, emailed them my cv and had a phone call 3 days later offering interview. Try small family businesess in your area. They may be better than anyone else. I was offered job because I live close to my new workplace and looking forward to my start date…

I’ve also been sitting on my licence for 2 years now but only recently looking to pursue it as a career. Like you I’m coming up against the 2years experience problem… You just have to keep knocking at as many doors as possible, someone will give you that chance one day! So don’t give up.
Rog had a good idea…

Try farmers, and owner drivers, they need a holiday too.
