Trying to be "arty"

I was delivering to one of the many new solar power plants in Spain recently and I tried to take a bit of an “arty” photo

they appear upside down because the mirrors are concave( i don’t think its convex    )

we deliver the pipes that run along the middle of the mirrors which heat up turning the water inside to steam that turns a turbine which generates electricity, there are loads of these going up in Spain at the moment

Springing up in a few other countries also. They are in my opinion a total eyesore just like those awful wind turbines that are making money for the companies operating them through massive taxpayer funded subsidies and not from what little power they produce.

they are an eyesore and a blight on the countryside but we have to have “green” energy to combat the alleged global warming :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:
it would be much easier to build lots of nuclear plants just don’t build them anywhere near a major earthquake region (what idiot thought japan would be ok?)

Personally I dont find them an eyesore at all, in fact I find the wind turbines in particular to be quite elegant.

And this solar tower near sevilla os incredible: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/05/seville_solar_s.php

when you drive past on the way to huelva on a sunny day the beams of light make the tower look like a suspension bridge in the distance, stunning sight, can even see the top of the tower as you come down the ruta de la plata shining far off like a flame on a refinery

Now a good picture of that would be worth taking.

clever pic.
my last job was doing some of this, mainly dropping the coated steel off, loaded in magor, then dropped anywhere between seville and the portugese border. some of the sites, were a little interesting to find at times.

tell me about it :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:
they’ve started to give us the longitude and latitude now for a GPS but that doesn’t always help if you need to find the access road which given the size of some of these sites could be miles away
