If you are not sure about using a lap top for navigation you can try Autoroute’s big brother with 2009 maps for free for 60 days.
You will need a GPS receiver for it to be used as a navigation aid, and you can add POI’s using CSV files.
I have used Autoroute for a few years now, along with trying other mapping software and tom tom etc and find it is nearly like using a paper map in comparison to other programs, and am only looking at this program because Autoroute are not making any more versions.
i already have mappoint 2009 and its a very useful tool to have used along side tomtom truck and google maps
not sure how to put cams and low bridges on tho, tried a few ways but still not there. anyone know an EASY way
