Trucky`s new Job

Hi ya all…just a few words about my new job…I started on Monday 22/08 at 0900…one of the drivers never turned up…so i got his round…EC1…EC4…EC3…etc…i never had a clue as which order to deliver…but a quick browse through the map book put me right…then it was down to the Sat/Nav…driving around central london and the city is a nightmare at the best of times…and i just had to bite my tongue with the traffic jams…grin and bear it so to speak…i must admit that i never got to park up and have a cofee that day…and i was glad to get home…Tuesday wasnt so bad and i earned my first parking ticket…thats gonna cost me £100…although if i pay it within 2 weeks that goes down to £50…i did write a letter to the traffic people saying i hope the person who issued the ticket suffers for the rest of his/her life…plus a few other choice words. All i did was park with 2 wheels on the pavement so as not to block the road and hinder other road users…but you cant explain that to a [zb] traffic warden…thats if you can actually spot them putting the ticket on the screen. I never noticed the ticket until i got home though…apparently…they are now putting the tickets below the screen with cellotape now…so as not to damage the wipers and get a claim against them…the rest of the week went fairly easily…and my start time was changed to 10.00…with a 1900 finish time…All the deliveries/collections are made via a computer screen called an XDA…its also a phone…and if connected…can be used for Sat/nav…i was told that i was doing really well…in fact on some days doing more work than one of the regulars…Friday was a different story though…i had very little sleep on thursday due to a sciatic nerve playing up…i was up at various times during the night and eventually nodded off at 0400…i woke up to find the pain had gone,so duly went to work…about 1600 it came back with a vengeance…and the pain was quite bad…at times i could hardly walk…so i told them i was calling it a day…and went home …during what is normally a very busy period…but luckily i was told (by my daughter0…that it never materialised…so all was ok then…tomorrow is another day…and i am enjoying the new job…and being home every night…and weekend…but i look at every artic with anticipation…and intrepidation…for i wonder if i can stay away from them forever…who knows…at least i dont have the early morning starts…the late finishes…the weekend working…but theres something about the transport industry…that never lets go…that draws you to it at every opportunity…my mind tells me i should be running abroad…something else tells me i should stick it out…and thats exactly what im gonna try and do..The courier business is very cut throat..and i suppose thats why the pay structure is like it is..normally so much a document or parcel..im on a guaranteed wage though…and then there are the deductions…uniform…insurance…G.I.T…hire of the vehicle…also down to me is the fuel/oil, vehicle wash…etc…plus any damage…not forgetting the P.A.Y.E. and N.I contributions…i will work out exactly how much its costing me…and what im making ..before deciding what to do..the way its looking at the moment is i may be forced back onto the big ones` for money sake…i will of course keep you all informed…in the mean time…keep your eyes peeled…

i not what you mean trucky but it had to go[/size]

… also in London they have camera’s to spot people parking on payment / illegally - so you can be done without a warden even turning up. We had a couple of vans done that way - first thing you know is a picture / fine through the post !!
