Following on from Mr Vains thread what is needed for a truckstop/rest area to be a good one that drivers would remember and return to? and for them not to leave bottles of ■■■■ behind.
I just said this to the Mrs “Gem i am thinking of buying some land and making it into a rest area for lorries” she replied “you can go ■■■■ yourself, i want to pay the mortage” she don’t think the idea will ever work
There is a prime sight in Liverpool for a truck stop. It’s just as you come off switch island and head towards the dock. It used to be a car sales called Switch Cars but has been derelict for a while. The parking space is there, the building is there and it’s on a main route !

But some local will always object. The not on my doorstep brigade, even though they live miles away.
There has been speculation of a truckstop on the A14 at Orton nr Rothwell junc6 just along the road from Welford.lot of noise at one stage but has gone quiet lately
Plenty of boarded up Little Chefs that could be redeveloped, that are attached to service stations. Anyone fancy reopening the Woodview cafe at Wittering?
I cant beleive the holding area/booking in area off the M11 for the Olympics has been filled in and ploughed over, it would have made a bomb as a parking area for lorries heading into London, and it is the other side of the Motorway to the Police.

Yes, just like the way the Mersey Tunnels toll is going up yet again (they were supposed to be free once the price of building them had been recouped). The MP resoponsible for putting the bill through parliament to bring this price rise in…lives in Devon.

I agree with what you say but had it been left it would have become a vosa checkpoint

Woodview has got no slip road and approaching traffic doesn’t get much chance to see you and move over. I’ve sat there for five minutes before. Kates Cabin is open again now.
The works storage area just off junction 12 at Flitwick would be a good location.
