What is it about the M8 through the middle of Glasgow?I drive this regularly and see artics,tippers-everything,using the outside lane!I have been all over Britain and have very rarely seen it elsewhere. Maybe it’s because there is so little multi-lane motorways up here-maybe it’s because they don’t care??
There are slip roads on and off the M8 through the middle of Glasgow on the outside lane.

my understanding of the highway code for coaches (dunno about LGV )is use of the outside lane is ok if the speed of the road is 50mph or less
I might be wrong but I thought there was a sign, saying you could use all lanes?

Maybe there should be, but like i say, there are slip roads on and off the M8 from the outside lane. So you have no choice but to be in the outside lane on this particular section if you intend use any of these slip roads.

Try the M6 and M1 at night and you’ll see it a couple of times a shift.

Yep, seen it a few times on the M6. Also watched one do it right infront of a Police car, that didn’t end well
There is also a stretch of the M621 in Leeds that allows HGVs to use the outside lane of the 3 lane section.

Yeah, but it’s badly signed. Tells you that you have to use it to stay on towards the M62(w), but then the middle lane carries on and you end up in a closing lane with a bunch of heroes on your inside.

I was just pointing out were you can do it legally, I wasn’t criticising hgv drivers who have no idea of lane control.
That’s on a different post.

Indeed, it is an equal opportunity move. Add Jamaican to the list, my co-driver used to do it as well.
