Trucks for truck shows

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am a HGV mechanic so know about the technical stuff but when it comes to the basics I have no clue.

I was thinking about getting a tractor unit to do up and take to truck shows. At the minuite I have my cat c licence and understand that if I have a dummy pin or even remove the 5th wheel I can drive it myself.

My question is how do I go about getting one. Insurance, somewhere to store it etc.
What paperwork do I need? And what about inspections? As it won’t be used to carry any kinds of goods.

Thanks for you help.

Adam.

I doubt doing something like that would be financially viable!!! It is not cheap having your own truck and the fact it would not be used for work would mean it is not earning, therefore you are shelling out for something for no return!!! Wouldn’t want to do it myself but that is just my opinion!!

Watch Shipping wars UK or record it if your in work that will give you a idea plus when there using it for work there always stressed over scraching it etc, its on every day

You can drive a tractor unit with a cat c license , no need for any mods . Just don’t pull a trailer .
