How began Volvos Export to England, Scotland, Wales And Ireland on a large scale?
Regarding Christer Olssons excellent book “Trucks yesterday and today” as is a story about trucks from AB Volvo. Following happen:

Jim McKelvie of Scotland wanted an alternative to the domestic lorries. As an old owner of a firm he had meet both bad quality among products and nonchalant attitudes from chops and developers of the bad make not only against him but also others. He began import Volvo F86 and N88 models. The very first to buy a N86 in England year 1986 was T Hutchinson with registration nr. LNL465E from on Tyne something. I have a picture showing the 2x4 truck hooked to a 2-axle flatbed with a load of iron goods. AB Volvo had good help open up the English market. Mr McKelvie worked for a growing service net because he understand how important it was. You can buy a truck but have you no shop or reseller it will be very hard.

As you may have noticed N86 and F7 has high sale numbers and it is easy calculate where these trucks has gone because perhaps 10.000 drivers from Sweden as have bought one of them. All other has been exported mainly to England I think.

Happy weekend
