TruckNet Newbie! Just passed my C E

Hey all. Just thought Id drop a message and say Hi as Ive just joined the forum.

Passed my C in June 2011 and started my first driving job at Sunlight Textile Services driving an 18 tonne DAF CF about a month after that.

Just passed my C E four days ago on 11/4/12! Absolutely chuffed about it as I really want to progress my driving career asap.

Im lucky in that my dad is also a HGV driver and in a few months his boss has said there will be an extra hire wagon and a job for me at his company. Obv this is excellent news as I know its really hard to get a start when youve just passed your test, and more so when your young like myself being 22… It was hard enough when I got my C.

I passed my C E in a wagon and drag set up so im taking some holiday from my current job soon to go driving for a bit with my dad at his company so I can get used to driving an artic set up whilst I have an old timer sat there to help me and give advice! Im very aware that wagon and drag and artic are completely different beasts to handle.

Anyway I plan on posting and getting involved on the forum as much as possible and no doubt when I do start driving my first CE Ill have lots of stories and questions to add to the forum haha

Cheers

Congratulations on the recent test pass and welcome to the mad house.

Glad you have some CE work to go into soon. It certainly is tough to get a start out there.

Looks like you have landed on your feet

Well done on the pass and I’m a little envious as you seem to be heading for a CE spot very soon. I myself am looking for that elusive CE seat and yes things are tough on the job market.

All the best…

Congratulations, you are now the proud recipient of the Harry Monk Award!

Mucho congrats!

Thanks again peeps =]

Mcc46 hope you find a CE job soon mate. I’m just lucky my dads boss has plenty of work n has agreed to give me the job when he gets the extra wagon on hire. Otherwise I’d be on the search too. I know I should count myself lucky.

Congrats an all the best

Well done on ya class 1 mate. Yea it is hard 2 get a job out there I was lucky like urself that I got a job with my dad too. First on an 8wheeler then got experience on a wagon n drag wen i passed my class 1. Although its scary how long ago it was wen i passed! Did my class 2 wen I had just turned 18 n class 1 wen I had just turned 19. I mainly drive my 8wheeler but do go on the wagon n drag a fair bit too which do u find easier drag or arctic? I’m glad 2 c another younger lad like myself in the industry! I thought it was just me that is mad doin it at 22! Good luck n keep us posted on ur progress pal…

Cheers everyone for your support im desperate to leave my current job driving an 18tonner n start at my dads place on the artics… just having to wait another 8 weeks or so due to personal commitments. Thanks tipperjon… I think maybe we’re both mad mate lol good to know theres some people my own age driving as well. Haven’t had much experience of driving artic yet mate so ill let ya know. Enjoyed the wagon and drag because it just felt like an easier step… just like driving what i work in now with a trailer on… plus when ya turn you dont immediately have a trailer headboard in your mirror.

Just frustrating having the CE license now and being stuck in a place im really not enjoying atm! But im sure a lot of people know the feeling!
