Trucknet meeting

a trucknet meeting was held last tuesday - i’m sorry that nobody was informed of this meeting.

the minutes of the meeting are as follows.

in attendance, johnny (thats me) and kw (thats keith)

the meeting was held at the motorway services at heverlee in belgium (near leuven).

the meeting started with introductions after johnny (thats me again) spotted the trailer marked with edwards on it.
being a little in the need of a toilet i walked straight to the garage to make use of the facilities, whilst within the garage premises the sale of alcohol was noticed and so a purchase was made and then onto the meeting point - a quick look at the windscreen of the volvo tractor unit told me that the driver was keith (illuminated name plate in the window), the lights were on and the curtains were open so i made the assumption that keith was awake and proceeded to knock on the door.

“hello mate - are you keith who posts on the trucknet site?” says i.
“i am” comes the reply.
great to meet you keith - i’m johnny.
keith then invited me into the meeting place (the volvo cab), very nice it was too - keith had been sitting at the table before my knock but chose to sit in the drivers seat during the meeting, i noticed that keith already had a glass of beer on the go (it’s nice to see a truck driver drinking from a glass in their own cab) so i didn’t offer one of mine - i asked if it was ok to pop the lid on one of my own and proceeded to do so.
as it was late the meeting didn’t go on too long but quite a lot was talked about.

the conclusion of the meeting was that i found keith to be a very thoughtful and decent person, i also found that it’s really a small world - of all the countries and all the places we could have been at that point in time - 2 members of the same web site stumbled across each other without even trying.

it was a real pleasureable experience and it’s good to be able to put a face to a name.

thanks for inviting me in keith - i’ll enjoy my holiday and hope to meet you again sometime when i am back.

good for you johhny i have seen keith myself but i was going in the opposite direction if all goes well with the trucknet scarffy things for the windscreen i hopefully will meet a couple of you.

Over the years I’ve been to quite a few similar meetings where the world gets put right by the 2 or 3 members present. Of course, we weren’t always members of TN but we were members of something … truck driving.
Nice to hear of the social aspects of international driving are still being upheld boys, long may it continue. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
