It’s not Friday but any day of the week is good for a laugh :unamused:

SNP or UKIP, not made my mind up yet.

None of them, they are all the same. Like trying which flavour of crisp you want to dip in dog ■■■■.

SteveBarnsleytrucker:
the miners strike.

Here we go again.
Mind you, I don’t think that vile Sturgeon bint’s forgiven the English for chopping up Scottish “Hero” William Wallace (even though it was the Scots who handed him over).
:smiling_imp:
I’m not bothering voting, aslong as Labour or the Greens don’t get in, I’m happy.

you wont have a right to Bithc and moan mind .
The only vote if your not happy is a vote of discontent , the wild card or outsider that has no hope in hell as my Grandfather said.

Going to vote UKIP this time around, have never voted conservative and never would ,still remember what they did to the miners and then proceeded to prostitute the utility companies to the highest bidders(all foreign incidentally) whilst spunking north sea gas and oil revenues to the point where the UK is now a nett gas importer. Cant do the Lib Dems after Mr.Cleggs dramatic u turn over students tuition fees still amazed how the man manages to stand erect as he has no backbone what so ever. Mr Milliband has gone up in my estimation over this campaign although the danger with them is lurking in the shadows in the form of Mr Balls quite an apt surname as that is what he talks most of the time. I watched an interesting documentary on how he handled the baby P case and basically hung out Sharon Shoesmith to dry with almost indecent haste (she subsequently had her day in court and won damages). It was pandering to the media in its worst possible way and Sharon Shoesmith’s life was not the only one he ruined, how could we even begin to think that a man who has so little idea of due diligence can run the countries finances.
So its Nigel for me this time around.

It’ll do until “none of the above” appears on the ballot paper.

What boils bacon is that we don’t really have control over our group of suits we pick.

Every few years we play this game. We pick on lottery cards an essentially commercial enterprise based off a sales pitch that phones4u would be proud of. We tick the boxes and in they slot. We then moan about it for the next few years to ■■■■■ like Jeremy Vine. In between the only power you have is crappy local elections. The unspoken gulf of what is promised pre election and what actually happens post election is collossal. Even more collusal and frankly missing is the feedback loop from the people to communicate and continue to have a say in their future.

What about more referendums. Look how stagnant the euro referendum is. It’s absurd in this day and age of technology and advanced thinking that to run a democracy it’s acceptable for a country to vote in any set of clowns based on promises no more water tight than a pair of tissue pants. Promises they can renege. And no recorse to the voter until the next election. You’re stifled. It’s a whole smoke up arse routine while all the suits who think they know better okay their game. I’m far from a socialist but we need more accountability in moderate balanced terms for sure.

You can’t have referendums for everything of course - that would be carnage as to be honest. Much as people like to think they have a clue, they don’t bloody have a clue about the fiscal deficit of trade. But certainly referendum would be a key barometer in wider issues and explode transparency of the key holders. Hey if a referendum says one thing, it’s a strong government under democracy who does the other. And isn’t that what democracy is about? Unless we’re pretending to be democracy every 4 years :unamused: . Mmm

Corrected about 10 times due due crappy crashing auto correct running slow on posting field due crappy Internet in crappy far away country. Grghhh

Not voting as per usual. I’m not on the electoral register and haven’t been for years and for that reason I’m out.

SNP even tho I live the other end of the country, I was going to vote UKIP until I listen to some of their stuff and Im just not feeling them anymore.

Although the Con were in power reg the miners there was only one person that brought that upon the miners and he profited from it nuff said

I thought you could you only opt out of the edited register? Has it meant avoiding jury service?

Can’t see how anyone could vote for Milliband with that silly voith.

It’s like a vegetarian having to pick what meat to have for dinner. At the end of the day they’re still going to have to eat meat and we’re still going to be turned over by the powers that be.

Ukip for me. Hoping for a coalition between them and the conservatives. Farage would be a better deputy pm than Cleggy. And for anyone in two minds about voting Ukip, don’t listen to all the wasted vote bs. It’s not such a distant memory that lib dem was seen as a wasted vote, and they’ve just been partly running the country for 5 years. Whatever happens, I just hope the turkeys don’t vote for Christmas again like 97

If you re talking about Mr. Scargill he was the NUM democratically elected leader at the time that the particular Tory government of the day decided to marginalise and vilify a particular section of society as they always do in order to curry favour with both the media and the general populous.
The government announced on 6 March 1984 its intention to close 20 coal mines, revealing as well the plan in the long-term to close over 70 pits. Scargill led the union in the 1984–1985 miners’ strike. He claimed that the government had a long-term strategy to destroy the industry by closing unprofitable pits, and that it listed pits it wanted to close each year. This was denied by the government at the time, although papers released in 2014 under the thirty year rule suggest that Scargill was right.

Can we not have yet another minors strike thread hijack please. Yes if you were around it you will be passionate and have your opinions, but the majority, unfortunately, don’t give a ■■■■ as they weren’t affected by it

Speak for yourself and whilst you are at it learn to distinguish between miner’s and minor’s.
:unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Auto correct on my phone, the word miner seems to be obsolete these days lol. All I’m saying is, by all means take the discussion about the strikes into bullys bar, I’m sure it will prove popular. However, this thread is about the upcoming election, not the general election of 1987. It’s fine to say a quick reason why you wouldn’t vote for someone, but a hell of a lot of threads get bogged down in the miners debate

I shall be spoiling my paper again this year. Spoilt papers are counted and are the only way to show your disatisfaction with the system.
IMO voting should be compulsory, but with a “none of the above” box available.
Hmm, might need to put my tin hat on after that!
