Woo! I did a fair few miles in H180 KFA before I got my new Iveco K953PBP
So, How many ex GBE drivers are on here?
And whatever happened to Bob Cox, Steve McCloud, oh, so many names…?
Gaz Hunter
I have just gone back to the new Transalliance GBE, it is my second visit.
Steve McCloud was UK fleet manager up until recently. He has since retired. He will have moved with them from forming the new group to Lichfield, Fradley and Derby I think, Steve is listed as a director on some recent paperwork I saw.
My Goodness, look at that bloody Barnet, I looked like the midget in James Bond film.
Nice shot in Dover Docks.
this is what I came back to one Saturday morning, as I said in a previous posting, George had burnt the yard down!!! He told the Firemen to let it burn or else.
Scania 80
Box Trailer
My burnt Motor. its a Fiat 130, when I complained about it, he said it shouldn’t have been parked there, and the Insurance said it was on private property, but I got it in other ways!
Bielefield Depot, Danzas
Its a bit of a shock seeing what we looked like all those years ago.
What a berk, the teeshirt Says “Little Al King of the Road”
Loading plastic sheets, nice and tidy but not tied down, we live and learn.
Oops, this is how it ended up, to much haste and less speed.

And I belive Bob Cox died, but think his son David worked with Steve at Transalliance.
Thanks. That is such a shame. Bob was a real gentleman, but with his heart condition I am not surprised. I hope Dave is doing well.
I used to work with Ken, doing the Peugeot run from Metz and Tremery to Coventry. Sadly Ken was found dead in his truck just before Xmas on the same day the transport plane crashed at Coventry airport. Sigh So many friends gone. I feel old
I did the engines out of Metz several times, but East West seemed to do more of them than GBE ,but I know GBE did 4 a day. I did have the misfortune to be stuck on the Socheau to Stoke plant for about 6 months,it was a killer, load 0500 tip Coventry 2100 same day.

Heh…when I started driving I was on the Halewood/any Ford plant in Germany in 24 hours contract…one of the other drivers was Paul Ashwell fresh from his exploits with the SuperGun. That was a killer job. My boss at the time expected three a week, using Volvo F6 daycab units. Sleeping was…tricky. That little handbrake got to be something of a friend
