Hi, you are on the nail with the Coventry bit, he bought it in 1991 from a someone in Coventry for £6000! At time of pic’ it had a 290 ■■■■■■■ with a 9 speed-Fuller box, but had previously been powered by a 250 ■■■■■■■ & a Detroit Diesel, both of which blew up :frowning: ! Regards Chris

Good idea Seth70! Here are a couple of pictures I took in Dover in the early '80s. Robert

I took these photographs in Lisbon docks in about '86 or '87 (maybe both). Robert

Ugh! Always rather liked Lisbon though, especially the Al Fama district. Robert

Now here is something I’ve never owned up to anywhere on this forum. Back in the 1986 I did an international run (well, to somewhere between Tours and Bordeaux) with a Bedford TL artic!

It had a 10-speed Turner box (5 with splits) and a convenient little parcel shelf behind the seats to sleep on! I shipped Newhaven-Dieppe. Until the previous day I had been driving a B-series ERF with a sleeper cab, so you can imagine how impressed I was with this little beastie. And just look at that trailer! When was that built, I wonder? Well, I loaded in France, tipped in Leeds, reloaded in Wirksworth, tipped in Surrey somewhere and returned to Kent. To be honest, I remember that the trip was quite enjoyable but needless to say, I didn’t hang around for any more of the Bedford treatment! Robert

If you find out who did that to those trucks they should be dragged on here screaming and publicly flogged and then shot :stuck_out_tongue:

well actually, i kinda like the extra space. reckon they were made of plywood though!
what about this one then WheelNut?
I know its not a UK reg truck, but thought it worthy of being here to accompany the Volvo and Scania earlier.
Maybe i should start yet another topic showing European companies
This one had a shower in it. Nice flowery curtains…not

That Scania was Swiss reg on the Porto run. The late Marcel was the driver,a good mate of mine.

It would have needed that air-con on the roof: it must have been like a greenhouse in there! I notice it’s got Trilex steers. Robert

Trilex’s all round. His boss got him an identical new one. Marcel stopped in Spain on the national road on the way to Porto and was kille crossing the road to talk to a mate going the other way. Boss only had one truck and ended up driving it himself ,he hated driving so was never a mate of mine.

I never understood the big deal with cambrils ,it was a dust bowl with a buffet that was it and easy to find ,i once saw a double man team in there who come down in a fl10 and were loading oranges backhaul,it was when the dodgy plastic was rife ,these two fellas were knocking them out for all to see,two mancs i will never forget there faces :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: they were on a big shopping spree

A few pics from my past

The good old days

The good old days

They sure were. No limiters, flexible tachos  and customs at borders to clear.
Saying that i don’t miss standing on the stairs in Dover on a Sunday evening
