Harry, the mists of time have blurred the details and the trouble is I remember sitting on the right hand side of the Fiat but being told about the Maggie Deutz engine so they’ve all merged into one. I used to pull Sca trailers for a while through their sub company Allianze freight who had an office in one of the buildings and a small yard in Cavell Street off Commercial Road. Just looked on Google earth and the building on the corner is still there but the yard has been turned into a park.
regards Charlie
Hello all, harry, have you a brother, John? used to drive for Keith Mallin, then came onto SCA, if you have I`ll continue, if not, then he must have come before, or after you! Cheerio for now.

Hullo Saviem,
Are you perhaps thinking of John and Peter Etherington. ?
Cheers, Archie.
Derek Taylor from Ormskirk and Hull drove for both these outfits
BB Read of Bridlington, what an impressive fleet they were…
Anyone know what happened to Fred who drove for Barry Read for years ?
Fred was from North Frodingham near Driffield IIRC, very nice man knew the job inside out a gentleman !

Kenny
Hello all, Archie, harry,I was thinking about Nick and John Harrison. Nick was on the V10 Magirus, I think he was living with Valerie, (did she work for Jamesons at some stage before SCA)? John had one of the Scanias, went on to work for an Italian outfit. Suppose it
s a long time ago now! Cheerio for now.
Maybe Nick drove the Mag before me? I do know that Nick & Val had a love affair & Val jacked in the Milan job & they both returned to Dover in the Maggie. Waiting for them at the quayside was Chambers who sacked 'em both on the spot. I liked Nick -sound as a pound! I never knew his brother. Val was office material & I always had a distrust of anything office for better or worse. Same as Maureen.

I think Fred finished when Barry sold out to Ken Matthews, he maybe did a few weeks there.
Derek Taylor was there towards the end too

Did they really take over “Radclives work”?
Iirc Dow opened a depot in Swindon about the same time as Man (late 70s) and a lot of the work was to the BMC plant in Turkey.
