hiya,
Never did International work but have worked for companies that did namely Bowkers, just wondering did any of you guys ever come across a great pal of mine from my days at Bowkers about 40 years ago, his name Jack Leach, i believe he went on to work for Woodside Bros but i know he did Continental work for a lot of years certainly from the 60s should imagine he’ll be retired now will be in his early 70s just a bit younger than me, thanks in advance for any information.
thanks harry long retired.

Harry, as you say, he left Bowker to work for Woodside. However, I heard that Jack had died in an accident some time ago, I think whilst driving a Woodside’s motor. As I recall, it was at a junction off the M25, perhaps the M25/M1 junction. This was all secondhand info, so may not be accurate.

HI JACKIE DID DIE ON THE M25 AT SOUTH MIMMS , HE WAS A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE, WE DRANK IN THE SAME CLUB, I RAN EUROPEAN FOR HOLDENS TRANSPORT OF BLACKBURN, 79 TO 88

Is that a Atki’ Borderer Sleeper (light blue) with a fridge on, middle of pic just to the right?

It is - was the firm Eldridge, or something like that, from Silvertown?

240 Gardner:

Whoa! Bloody brilliant - any more from inside it please?

I thought that, his yard was under the flyover, just down the road from The Silvertown Motel, I did a bit of subbying for Eddie, proper old East End firm that was and that’s all I’m going to say on the matter

truckerash This ring any bells? A mishap down in Portugal. An export load of bales of cotton shifted. The loaders left a gap down the middle. Not a scratch on the driver or the little customs man that was accompanying him to the border. ( Just noticed that its the same erf , but with a new mirror on the drivers side) I guess the Maggie will be needing a new mirror as well.

I’m sure the little Guy is Paul Gibson.

He’s not so little; Any idea why Photobucket snatches the snaps back?

mappo:
In the pic of Dover, the red and blue Fiat / Iveco with red tilt was one of
Transport Services of Southampton ( formerly Jim Squibb & son )
I drove for them at the time of pic…could well have been me.

Blimey Mappo you get every where!!  RJimski

The trip was in 1985 to Portugal, the F88 was a 290, so looks like a bit of modifying had been done to keep the old girl earning!

Anyone got there eating heads on, South West France, anyone recognise it?

Hi Adr, would that Routiers be on the old road between Narbonne and Perpignan?
