TRUCKIN IN THE 80's (International)

Do any of you guys remember this outfit at Rentaria just south of Irun.
I paid several visits while waiting for clearance in and out of Spain.
This was Easter weekend 1982 ,on my first trip outside the UK
"Si,Senor Guardia Civil, that word Provisional on my HGV licence is another way of saying Professional " or words to that effect

It looks very familar. Was there a hotel opposite? I’m sure it was the San Jose place I used to fill with diesel at in the 90’s, on the national road not that far from the border. You used to get a token from the little kiosk when filled you could use in the hotel opposite for a meal.

If I remember correctly ,either San Jose,Lopez or Oloquqie (sp) had the Mack agency in the Irun area.

Another photo from the past.
Do any of you remember this guy who used to deliver the new trailers, from one of the factories in Holland
I am sure he ran foul of some Dutch regulations, because they classed his truck as a motorhome and some obscene amount of road tax was required to be paid.

14 Too… I was stuck at Irun Easter of 1982, I had flown out to pick up on of my brothers trucks that had been dumped, I was there all Easter with a guy called Pete Smith off Smiths of Scotter on his way to Portugal, and there was another guy owner driver John ? had a Kiwi girl with him.

Just a couple to maybe jog memories.

My contribution to this thread is my Brian Yeardley '95 Space Cab Draw-Bar at the park on Mont Blanc.

Taken during my Continental days during a run down to Novara (Italy)

Adr,
Great to see the F12 of Michael Martin, he ran out of Frans Maas and Huaser late 80 early 90s based in Uttoxeter, new the driver (charlie) and Michael quite well, he also had a 142, driven by a guy nicknamed Kewi, don’t no his real name.

Keep the photos coming, great to see them from the good times

Regards
Ant

Couple of unknowns, anybody recognise them?

And a couple more.

Don’t know who the two unknowns are, but that’s definatley a Joe Millar scania from Randalstown parked beside that 112 Scania.

That LHD 112 is an ex Pam De Jong motor

indeed it is…

I think the Casbroad FH 12 (a left ■■■■■■ if I’m not mistaken) belonged to Mike Humphries from Newbury a regular on the greek run until somebody relieved him of the worry of it one night in 1992. It was never recovered as far as I know.

Hullo Charlie, or is it Chas or Charles now you are in the promised land ? Ha! Ha!.
Mick Humphries, I remember the name but can"t for the life of me place him, was he on for George ? or did he come on for Brian ? I’m Sure that I 've met him. Anyway how has the change of venue turned out ? Very well I hope, I hope your first Christmas and New Year was good. Has your lad settled in OK ? Lots of questions, sorry mate, I must have a longer chat with you when we get back home, somewhere at the end of May I think. Just leaving Sydney now for NZ. All the best Charlie will catch up later.
Cheers, Archie.
