Truckfest

Who’s paying to look at lorries this year? I’m going to MOTO Oxford services instead it’s free admission with a constantly changing display of lorries. Free parking for 2 hours and not an elephant meat dealer on site.

Can’t afford it this year, other things are taking priority. And dad won’t be well enough to go, not the same not having dad there  then again i get to see wagons day in day out so it ain’t all bad

Cheers

No offence but that’s like a car enthusiast saying I’m not paying in to a car show when I can see them in a car park :bulb:

Is that why you signed yourself out as just plain Jonny then

Got to agree with Muckaway, it’s never really appealed to me either, but each to his own and all that. I would, and have done in the past gone to a vintage truck show though, but not really interested in paying to see modern stuff.

Back on topic No i’m having nothing to do with TF ever again.

I always sign out as Jonny  the username was made up when i was about 8 years ago. Makes me feel old thinking about it like that :open_mouth:

I might make it to Newark this year but that’s a very big might. Might have a lorry next year to take to shows who knows

Anyone know if the ackworth steam rally is on this year  ?

Cheers

I’m not going to Truckfest, but we did show the truck at Brands Hatch last weekend, and will be doing Lydden Hill and the Detling show this year. We enjoy doing the shows, my boys love a weekend camping, but I wouldn’t personally go as a punter.

That having been said, I wouldn’t cross the road to watch a Premiership football match either, but if that’s what other people enjoy then that’s fair enough. We spent this afternoon on a preserved steam railway, the SKLR, and I’m sure most people wouldn’t be interested in doing that. Diff’rent strokes for diff’rent folks and all that.

Well I presume he is if he’s going to the services to look at them.

I’ll be going to TF Scotland this year. And if my gaffer isn’t pulling my leg about me getting a shiney new Actros Bigspace shortly, then I might even take that and show it off too.:stuck_out_tongue:

I personally like to see trucks that worked hard for most of the year be cleaned up and shown off for one weekend a year. It’s the chance to see the pride some drivers have in their job, be shown off in the shape of a nice clean and tidy truck.:sunglasses:

The difference between going to TF and an MSA to see some trucks, is that at least TF doesn’t have big smelly puddles of ■■■■ beside the wheels.:unamused:

You never know, you might get lucky, and someone off of Ice Road Truckers might stop for a ■■■■■ too.

Do you think they’ll have monster trucks, and a recovery demonstration?

truckfest- not a bloody chance!!
get yourself up to Duxford for 24/25 may for the D-day anniversary air show. much better value, show the kids some proper British history! cant beat the sound of several rolls royce merlin engines blasting past at 300 mph :sunglasses:

ill be at peterborough but as a spectator this year

Id rather pluck my ■■■■■ out one by one than go look at a truck with frilly curtains

Yeah but at Truckfest you have a 99% chance of meeting Mark Dixon. The 1% negative is if he drowns in underpants thrown at him by women on his way in :grimacing:

Judging by the state of the inside of some cabs I’ve been in I’m pretty certain that’s a choice some drivers don’t have to make.
