  We all see euro trucks, with bling or not, every day of the week, so when I venture out in the blistering sunshine, I like to look at something different, there were loads of really great Scania’s, Dafs, Mercs etc, nice but oh so boring! I had a picture of Merv’s orange Kenworth, the one with the Largecar sleeper in the back ground in the last pic, but due to ineptitude with a computer it seems to have vanished.

Update…found it, and another one.

tramper wheres a pic of your motor mate

:open_mouth:  I didn’t take any of mine! Maybe someone else did, Dennis F came and said hello, but I don’t know if he had a camera.
Here are a couple of pics of it in the yard before we left.

 I did notice that there was no Operators licence disc in the window, and I always thought you had to have one if you used the drag, due to the weight.

HENSCHEL
Prior to 1925 Henschel & Sohn GmbH built railway locomotives, but it was granted a licence in 1924 to build FBW trucks. The early FBW-based Henschel was a chain-drive 5-tonner but within a year a shaft-drive machine was available. In 1928 the company, now Henschel & Sohn AG, began building its own diesel engines and by 1930 the truck range included models from 21/2 to 10 tonnes, the largest being a three-axled rigid. An articulated model was also available for pay loads of up to 16 tonnes. Henschel then concentrated on a program of steam truck development based on the advanced Doble principle. Up to 18 heavy-duty steamers of modern appearance were built up until 1936. That year marked the appearance of a 300bhp 12-cylinder opposed-piston diesel engine. A range of military trucks was produced, but civilian production was resumed in tile late 1950s. Bonneted trucks predominated but during (lie '50s a range of forward-control models became available. including some witll underfloor engines. The company became Henschel-Werke GmbH in 1957. and in 1961 it formed a joint arrangement with Saviem under which Henschel was marketed in France as Saviem-Henschel. Tills arrangement only survived two years and was followed by an equally short-lived tie-up with the British Rootes Group, manufacturers of Commer trucks, to market their products as Commer-Henschel in Europe. That arrangement ceased in 1967 when Henschel was taken over by Rheinstahl, who already owned Hanomag and its subsidiary Meal & Sohn Tempo-Worke which built Tempo vans. Rheinstahl-Henschel AG was formed into Hanomag-Henschel Fahrzeugwerke GmbH in 1968 and the trucks carried Hanomag-Hensschel name badges. Shortly after that, in 1970, the whole organization was absorbed into Daimler-Benz (now DaimlerChrysler), The last trucks to bear the Henschel badge were built in 1969.

HANOMAG
Hanomag began building gasoline-engined trucks in 1925 but had built a number of steam lorries some 15 to 20 years earlier. Those earlv steamers dating from 1905-08 were Stollz designs built under licence. Hanomag’s first gasolinc-engined truck was a 3/4-tonne forward-control model. In 1933 an innovative design appeared in the form of an underiloor-engined forward-control 4-tonner with a horizontal 4-cylinder diesel. Hanomag uent on to build heavier tractors tor artic and drawl iar use up to 15 and 20-tonne payloads, the heavier one having a 5-cvlinder diesel. Hanomag’s post-war range mainly consisted ot light trucks up to 2 1/2-tonnes payload. In 1967 a new range appeared, extending up to 5 tonnes payload. In the meantime. Hanomag had taken over the Tempo company which specialized in front-wheel drive vans. In 1968 Hanomag merged with heavy truck maker Henschel of Kassel to form Hanomag-Henschel. Only two years later Hanomag-Hcnschel was taken mer by Daimler-Benz (now DaimlerChrysler). Production of Hanomag-Henschel was phased out in 1973.

Is that Megaspace a Y-plate? If so it was the ex-demo that replaced my Premium in the 3 1/2 year stint i did for AFC. Never got to drive it though as i left for pastures new. The driver who did get it had a lot of trouble with it though so turned out to be a good move! Hope it’s settled down now!

tramper as long as the trailer doest exceed somthing like 1050kgs all he needs to do is use a tacho when pulling the trailer

Yes thats the very one! Shame you didn’t post this just before I bought it, because according to the seller it was never any trouble…settled down? it seems to have but not before spending a lot of cash on it.

Looking through the book, the weight limit for the trailer is 1020kgs, which isn’t a lot , and if the whole rig is above 3.5 tonnes GVW/GPV it requires an Operators Licence. Now don’t get me wrong, I am in no way insinuating thaty this guy is breaking the law, but the combined weight of that transit and drag trailer can’t leave much for cargo.

Thanks Steve, :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

SO that one must have been built between 1968 and 1973 - not bad for a 30yr+ truck :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Sorry 'bout that fella! From what i can remember most of the problems were with gearbox/gearbox control, but that wasn’t where it stopped- as i guess you well know. Glad to hear it’s givin you less trouble now though. Maybe we need a rogue vehicle list on here! Who better to ask than those that have lived with the vehicle! Still, guess the boss wouldn’t be too pleased if we’re busy slagging off his trucks while he’s desperately trying to sell them! On that note, if anyone’s presently kicking the tyres of a 113.320 reg G30 GNG, then i suggest you turn on your heels and get the hell outta there! Pretty sure it’s either in the great rdc queue in the sky, or in deepest darkest Africa by now, so shouldn’t cause too many problems either way.
