just read the interview in truck and driver with colin ward md of live promotions he says £35 for 2 adults and 2kids on sunday is good value well i disagree both my kids are under 3 so like most places we go they get in for free .if thats the case at truckfest its still gonna cost me £30.i cant go on the monday cuz im working that night but why is it cheaper on the monday £12.per adult or £32.50 for a family ticket.last year i took the tribe to the classic comercial show at gaydon and the peak show at uttoxiter all for less than what it costs to get into truckfest

I would say there’s a very obvious reason why it’s cheaper on the Monday. Can you not work it out
I use to go but its such a rip off I’v not been for the past 2 years.
Some people will pay in the same way some people will work for peanuts or break driving hours law, there will always be those who can be taken advantage of & the rest of us will suffer untill they get real.
rob K. Is it because they give the prizes out on monday and they parade the winners around the show ring that makes it cheaper or is it because its bank holiday . Sorry Rob K but I must be as thick as Jonah cause I cant see the reason . Yorkshire born Yorkshire bred strong in arm thick in head !!!

Ah, I shall retract that comment in my first reply then. A case of not engaging brain before opening gob. I didn’t realise it was a Bank Holiday Monday
Who cares
SEEN ONE SEEN 'EM ALL
I’ve been twice in the last 5 years the next time will be when they come up with somthing original.
is it because that celeb bird kerry macfadden is only there on the sunday so they have to cover her apperance money.

I have been to Truckfest (Peterboro edition) twice. The first time I was looking for lots of information re vehicles, insurances etc. etc I would have done better standing in our High Street and asking passers by.
I went a couple of years later thinking the content must have improved. Silly boy. Why do we have to pay when there are so many ‘trade’ stalls all paying silly rentals to the organiser, so they have to charge us silly prices to get it back, and most of the stalls have absolutely NOTHING to do with trucking.
Last year we paid over £300 for a 3m frontage…this year Live Promotions have quoted over £800[/i] for an identical pitch…
A combination of this and the continuing feeling amongst the members that the TruckFest events are overpriced and over-commercialised means that this year we will not be having our usual stand at Peterborough - or any other Live Promotions event.
Rikki and myself may be attending in a personal capacity (largely dependent on the whims of my Traffic Office that week… ), in which case you know where the bar is!!!
Lucy.
Im going to try the Uttoxeter show this year.
Mal.
what ever happend to the kent show, I can there used to be a show there many moons ago at the kent county show ground
I have read the truck & Driver magazine in this months, the Truckfest Boss will arrange Truckfest venue in Kent in 2005/06 this good for me, this better than peterborough because too far for me! Kent is not bad but still near than peterborough
We paid £75 per Square Metre Last year + Vat, the minimum rental area is 3 metre frontage, this year it rose to £85 + Vat again the minimum rental being 3 metres.
Considering we required 6 metres frontage and they only supply traders with 4 tickets for staff, and we have 6 staff along with the problems with the Tribunal Hearing, we decided to give the Truckfests a miss this year.
Last year we attended all 4 shows, only Edinburgh actually gave us the break even total, the biggest gripe we as traders heard from the paying public was the high entrance costs and the extortionate Food and Drink prices being charged in all the shows. We were prevented by Live Promotions in March last year, from selling soft drinks for 35p per can, they claimed we could not sell these because we were not caterers, and yet, dispite this, there were many other traders selling soft drinks i.e cans of coke, fanta, lilt, pepsi for 75p + per can.
It’s my opinion that Live dont give a monkey’s about promoting the transport industry, only promoting the interest earned in their bank account.
One day, all these visitors to Truckfests will stand back and say enough is enough and miss the show for 1 year, when the gate attendance falls, Live will realise that they have out priced themselves from the market and may just reduce the prices.
Somehow though, I doubt it
I don’t know what you are all complaining about You have the choice, if you think it’s expensive don’t go. I wouldn’t pay a penny to go look at trucks myself, although I would go for a laugh or to meet friend etc if needed.
If demand at these places drops they lower the charges next time. I lived most of my life within 3 miles of Silverstone and I love F1 racing. I went to countless GP’s but never paid a penny to get in, which is just as well at 200 quid just to sit on the grass, if I didn’t get free tickets I’d watch it on TV.
When events like truckfest etc get good turn out’s they put up the cost of entry the next time so they can make more money. Truck makers should pay the drivers to inspect their products, not the other way around.
I have road tested loads of trucks in my time but I GOT PAID FOR IT
