The Foden Society has an area at the Banbury Rally, and the ERF equivalent attends Gaydon so a TNUK section would bring a bit of variety.Just noticed the initials, don’t put a banner up near any mirrors or the censors will be in a right old moral pickle…

It is a very good idea.
You just need a venue and then the rest can be sorted out via a poll on here.
Events manager who knows what they are doing, not a company, a consultant would be more cost effective and the advertising will be looked after in house and they could actually use the fact that the drivers have been consulted as positive PR in the advertising, although it would take some planning, so would not happen until next year.
And…As venues are pushed for financing at the moment, it would be a good time to do it.
The rest is mathematics.
You have a blueprint for the future, learn from mistakes and improve year upon year with consultation via here and the magazine.
They seem ideally placed to do it, all it needs is some enthusiasm and creative visualisation

Agreed, Somewhere up north for a Location (Westmorland County Showfield would be nice )
Tie it in with Commerical Motor or one of the other magazines as well.

You need to factor in the weather before you start your search for a venue, stick to the agenda, ensuring that there is hard standing for the show trucks, traders can always go on grass, so long as it is well drained.
I have done a few shows as a trader and have done large events from a catering perspective, it really isn`t rocket science, it just needs common sense and check lists, but above all, effective communication.
I actually feel it is insulting, to ask an exhibitor to take his pride and joy and place it in mud It can be avoided with adequate planning.
Rikki-UK:
I think you would be suprised at the profit margin- its not as high as you may think- and a bad turnout on the gate would probably make the difference between profit and loss on the event,
the profit margin will be a lot less after they have reinstated the gound and made it tidy again pretty sure live have to pay for it as all fairgounds have to pay councils when they have a problem with the soft grounds
So, did I miss ■■■■■■ Traffic (all truckers love her apparently) and a monster truck driving over some old cars?
I hope I didn’t miss a lorry being pulled onto it’s wheels…
I’m gonna be a bit different here. I went to Truckfest with my wife, daughter & 3 year old grandson. We had a good time, we all thoroughly enjoyed it & will happily go next year !
I haven’t been to truckfest at Peterborough for a few years now and i dont really miss it. Went for quite a few years in a row but have stopped going. This isnt to say that i am against truck shows. Went to Newark last year and i thought it was good, might go this year and i would also really like to go to one of the big European shows one year.
Being the biggest truck show in the country the costs are always going to be high and i dont think that will change. I agree about the amount of non truck related stuff at the show but as has been said that gets people through the door.
it was very muddy and boggy but there was some fantastically turned out motors there, all credit to those who battled on and made a real effort, some stunning trucks there
thanks will88
