truckfest 2012

as for he weather, who cares, a good time was had by all those who were there, photographic evidence has been posted on various internet sites to back this up

I think we can agree the weather was crap. but I am struggling to blame Live Promotions for that…

It is also noticed that those who werent there are saying its crap… personaly, It was bloody hard work, But I met a lot of really good people, some I knew before some i didnt, had a great time, more than alot of laughs and jokes

Despite the wet and mud I enjoyed it, and I didnt walk round once and look at shiny trucks- only because I was too busy, what made it for me was the people. and for me that is what it has always been about- a social event , meet old freinds and make new ones- have a laugh and a joke . smile at adversity ( the weather) and go home at the end of the weekend having done something different than sit on the settee/computer watching TV like I do every other weekend of the year

To be fair, no thread knocking Truckfest is going to gain much ground on here…far too much of a vested interest.

I understand what has been said about the prices of food/drink at the ground, and about taking your own, however the organisers should consider that the majority of people likely to attend this sort of show are, well, truck drivers. And from there it isn’t a massive leap of genius to work out that they are not the best paid workers in the country therefore some effort should have been made to keep prices reasonable instead of seeing the visitors as walking pound signs.

That said, it isn’t just Truckfest that fleeces people for food/drink, plenty of venues do it for many different types of event.

I will put my hand up and say that i have never, and will never, go to Truckfest. It’s not for the drivers or enthusiasts, its all about the corporate opportunities and making money out of people. Great place to go if you have your own business and need to network, or want to attract new customers…corporate willy waving most of it.

Just my tuppence on it.

Whats the point in travelling 350 miles to sleep in a cold tent in a muddy field when the folk i want to be there aint there?

that and truckfest got stale, live promotions need to drasticly change tfest

What a cracker of an F88 290 in the background…anyone got any more pics of it?

lifted off another truck site.

Longman.

Take what yer like from this…

I have an idea, instead of just one venue, why not use the motorway services on any wet Wednesday. If you want you can pay to walk round the lorry park and capture the smells and sounds of man at work. People will be able to use the free exercise regime, walking from the lorry park to the toilets.

There is an optional choice of washing lorries, all you need is a muddy bucket of water and offer to do the screens for people.

I had a cracking weekends entertainment… World Superbikes from Monza. Moto GP from Estoril, British Superbikes from Oulton Park and Poole v Swindon on Sky Sports.

I hope it includes a meal voucher.

It does… cooked breakfasts, plus free evening live band ( I heard it was the Queen tribute band this year, but wasnt there so not sure) for those staying over with trucks , and firework display - so your £40 isnt simply to park the truck, the events are provided as part of that cost if you choose to attend them.

so for less than the cost of parking for two nights at Clacketts Lane- you can park up for two nights at TruckFest, get ■■■■■■ have a good laugh, see a band watch a firework display and get what I heard was a half decent breakfast –

If Clacketts Lane provided that every night some of you would be queuing up to park there

putting it that way is it so expensive after all ?

Yes breakfast was fine and the queen band was amazing , he even looked like him . Some moaning ■■■■■■ on here we took three motors and had a ball .

well there you go just over 3005 views and 85 replies some good some bad some funny and some good ideas  but the organisers ( who ever they are ) need to take on the fact times are in need of a change at truckfest , you can’t have" ■■■■ turpin " catering companys charging what i was charged, as was many others in this day and age. every day most drivers are getting mugged by motorway services ,i don’t think they like myself expect to have your trousers down for what is [zb] for food ,there are plenty of other places around good old blighty ( concrete) hard standing that could be used and the " organisers " could give a bit more air time to others in the industry , as voted by drivers for drivers and not because there on tele " mr stobart " when was the last time you paid for advertising  there is im sure many out there that would love to swap places to big up their company or drivers. truckfest still needs to re-invent and re-inject some new ideas.

No offence to Rikki but is it just me who thinks his comments defending Truckfest seem geared to appease Live Promotions?

No offence to you Nathan, but are you and I reading the same topic?

I can’t see anywhere where Rikki has “defended” Truckfest, and from what I read, Rikki seems to be pointing out stuff that most people might not have thought about.

I’m not defending Truckfest either, but have you read the link kindly supplied by att above?

I can’t get it to load on my phone; Is it Live Proms financial standing.
I stand by what I say in that it’s a cheek to expect truck exhibitors to pay for the privilege. Maybe if they didn’t, more people would exhibit, attracting more visitors?

Haha, that Stobart fest is going to fun then, as its Rugby League’s Magic Weekend, where all the Superleague teams play each other in derby games over that weekend.

Yes, all in one venue.

A great time for all the family!!

Enjoy ‘‘Meet and greet’’ with all your favourite characters.

40 quid for this and that, parking terrible so why do you keep going every year? Guarantee everyone in this thread who said they wont be back will be back next year.

Just do what i do stay at home wash the car have lunch, a bit of a snooze, watch repeats of only fools and horses. If i fancy looking at trucks i can take a drive to the services :grimacing:

The Foden Society has an area at the Banbury Rally, and the ERF equivalent attends Gaydon so a TNUK section would bring a bit of variety.

Just noticed the initials, don’t put a banner up near any mirrors or the censors will be in a right old moral pickle…

Although, A Trucknet show isn’t a bad Idea actually…
